Telenor Serbia to Invest $11.1 Million in Network Upgrade in Next Six Months

Telenor Serbia announced it plans to invest $11.1 million in the upgrade of its network during the next six months. The investment will make fast internet available to 99% of the Serbian population. The plan will include upgrades at 1,650 base stations. Telenor said central Serbia will be covered with a fast 3G internet signal by the end 2015 while the territory of the northern autonomous province of Vojvodina will be covered by the end of March next year. Almost half of all Telenor Serbia customers have smart phones and with the rise of their share in the overall subscriber base, mobile banking services have grown two and a half times compared to the previous year.

Telenor Serbia reported revenue results for the second quarter of 2015. Revenues in the second quarter of 2015 amounted to RSD 11.3 billion, representing an increase of 11% compared with the same period in 2014. The company said results were helped by the establishment of SMS interconnection and introduction of handset sales in installments.
