Chery Plans to Close Uruguayan Assembly Plant Permanently

Chery is planning to permanently close its Uruguayan assembly plant. This move means that around 150 workers still employed at the Canelones plant will be laid off. Uruguay's national director of labour, Juan Castillo, told Efe that the automaker has taken this decision because of the economic situation in Brazil and Argentina. Castillo stated that the number of people affected by the company's closure is likely to reach 1,000, if those benefitting from outside employment linked to the factory's operation are included.
Chery Automobile Launches New Arrizo M7 MPV

Chery Automobile announced to launch its new Arrizo M7 MPV at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, scheduled for later this month. The vehicle is to arrive at Chinese dealerships in the second half of 2015. The model is a facelift version of the 2011 Chery Rely V5. It features black over beige with a piano black lower-centre console and two tone seats. It is available with a choice of two four-cylinder petrol engines with almost the same output, a 1.8 with 132hp and 172hp, and a 2.0 with 139hp and 182Nm, and both engines are coupled with a six-speed manual or a CVT.
Chery Automobile to Launch C3R in China

Chery Automobile announced that Cowin is launching its new C3R hatchback in China on April 8, 2015. The model is to be priced between CNY 40,000 and CNY 45,000. The vehicle is based on the same platform as the Cowin C3 sedan that was launched last November. It features dials but no LCD screen, red striping on the seats and it is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 109bhp and 140nm, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission.
