Hearst Magazines International announced that Gary Ellis has been appointed to the newly created position of chief digital officer, responsible for the content, technology, operations and overall business strategy for the company's global web and mobile products. The announcement was made by Duncan Edwards, president and CEO of Hearst Magazines International, to whom Ellis will report. He will be based in New York City and assumes his role on March 3. From 2005 to 2013, Ellis was vice president, international digital media for Viacom Media Networks, where he helped build the company's online network, overseeing product development, marketing, programming, social media, sponsorships, production and operations, and the creation of scalable, multi-platform business models.

Hearst Magazines International announced that Arnaud de Puyfontaine, 49, CEO of Hearst Magazines UK since 2009 and executive vice president of Hearst Magazines International since 2011, will add managing director, Western Europe to his responsibilities, overseeing the activities of Hearst Magazines in Spain, Italy, Holland, Germany and France. The announcement was made by Duncan Edwards, president and CEO, Hearst Magazines International, to whom de Puyfontaine will continue to report. de Puyfontaine will assume his new responsibilities on September 1 and will remain based in London. Before joining Hearst, de Puyfontaine served as president and CEO of Mondadori France overseeing a portfolio of
30 titles and group digital operations. Prior to that, he was chairman and CEO of the Emap France Group.
Hearst Magazines International Launches Esquire in Vietnam

Hearst Magazines International (HMI), a unit of Hearst Corporation, announced the launch of Esquire in Vietnam starting with the April issue, in print and iPad e-edition on March 26. Esquire Vietnam marks the 27th edition of the general-interest lifestyle magazine for sophisticated men, and will be published in partnership with Sun Flower Media, with whom HMI already partners to publish Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar in Vietnam. The most honored monthly magazine in America, Esquire defines, reflects and celebrates what it means to be a man in contemporary culture. The magazine is published in 14 languages and distributed in 45 countries, having most recently launched in Singapore in July 2012.
