American Organization of Nurse Executives Appoints Maureen Swick as Chief Executive Officer

The American Hospital Association (AHA) named Maureen Swick, R.N., Ph.D., chief executive officer of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). For the past six years, Swick has been the senior vice president and chief nurse executive for Inova, In her role at AONE, Swick will lead a membership organization of more than 9,500 nurse leaders whose strategic focus is excellence in nursing leadership. She will play a leadership role in a number of key initiatives involving workforce, quality and safety, and future care delivery models. In addition, she will work collaboratively with the AHA to ensure the perspective and needs of nurse leaders are heard and addressed in public policy issues related to nursing and patient care.

American Organization of Nurse Executives Announces Election of Executives, Effective January 1, 2016

Two Banner Health executives have been elected to serve a three-year term with the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) starting January 1, 2016. Lamont M. Yoder, RN, MSN, MBA, NEA-BC, FACHE, chief executive officer at Banner Gateway Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Ariz., was elected to serve as treasurer of AONE. As treasurer, Yoder will be responsible for reviewing and overseeing AONE's activities related to financial planning and budgeting. Additionally, he will chair the AONE Finance Committee and represent AONE on the American Hospital Association's Board of Operations. Additionally, Rachel Behrendt, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, was named to the Board of Directors, Region 8. Behrendt has been with Banner since 2013, where she serves as a member of the academic medical center's senior leadership team. She also has more than 25 years of clinical and administrative experience in academic health care settings.
