BioAlberta Appoints Mel Wong as its New President

The BioAlberta board of directors announced that Mr. Mel Wong has been appointed as the company new president. Mr. Wong will take up his duties on August 4, 2015. Ms. Aggie Mikulski will continue in the role of Interim President of the Association until then. Mel brings a wealth of government management experience, intimate knowledge of life sciences, as well as an extensive network of international, intergovernmental and industry relationships. Prior to his appointment as President of BioAlberta, Mel served as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Technology and Industry Partnerships Division at Alberta Innovation and Advanced Education for over ten years. Prior to that Mel held the Executive Director’s role in the Research and Technology Commercialization Division of Alberta Innovation and Science and several other management roles within the Government of Alberta.
BioAlberta Announces Management Changes

The Board of Directors of BioAlberta announced that Ms. Judi Bahl, Vice President is no longer with the Association, effective immediately. There are currently no plans to fill that position. The Board also announced that Dr. David J. Cox, currently co-Chair of the Board will assume the role of Executive Chairman, effective immediately. It is anticipated that this will be an interim assignment, the term of which will be regularly reviewed by the Board. As Executive Chairman, Dr. Cox will take a more active role in the management and direction of BioAlberta than has hitherto been the case.
BioAlberta Appoints Paul Stinson as New President and CEO, Effective September 29, 2014

The BioAlberta Board of Directors announced that Mr. Paul Stinson has been appointed as new President and CEO. Mr. Stinson is expected to take up his duties on, September 29, 2014. Prior to his appointment as President and CEO of BioAlberta, Paul has led a distinguished career including assignments in nine countries on four continents, in the public and private sectors. He has been a regional program manager for a Canadian government agency in Singapore, a country CEO for two multinational pharmaceutical companies in Zimbabwe and India, the president of a provincial biotechnology industry association and, most recently, an entrepreneur.
