Algeria Still Plans To List Mobilis

Algeria's new Minister of Post, IT and Communications, Iman Houda Feraoun stated that the government does not plan to open up the capital of Algerie Telecom SPA (AT) to the public, Agence Ecofin reported. He indicated that the listing of a 20% stake of Algerie Telecom Mobilis S.p.A. on the Algiers Stock Exchange is still on the cards. The listing plan is being reviewed, under which Mobilis would be spun off in a separate company before the initial public offering (IPO) takes place.

Algerie Telecom SPA has yet to receive any firm offers for the 20% satke of Algerie Telecom Mobilis S.p.A. that it hopes to sell, ICT minister Zorha Derdouri announced in a radio interview, Agence Ecofin reports. She said that the only companies to present clear expressions of interest were Orange (ENXTPA:ORA) and Vodafone Group Public Limited Company (LSE:VOD). The next step for them is to discuss price with the Algerian government. The lack of any binding offers may have been affected by Mobilis not following through on its planned flotation.
Algerie Telecom Partners with Nokia Networks to Upgrade MPLS Network

Algerie Telecom has partnered with Nokia Networks to modernize its transport network sites with MPLS network. Under the terms of the deal, Nokia Networks Global Services project management and network implementation will assure the smooth deployment of the IP/MPLS solution from Juniper Networks, Nokia's long-term and trusted partner. The deployment will save operating costs and enable Algerie Telecom to offer flexible end-to-end transport services more efficiently and securely across network domains. Nokia Networks will also provide network planning, optimization and systems integration to ensure that the opeartor's network can deliver the necessary throughput, latency and resiliency for the quality of service. A five-year contract also provides hardware, software and competence development services to protect Algerie Telecom's capital investment.
