Intel-GE Care Innovations™ Expands Partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center to Establish an Innovation Living Lab
Apr 28 15
Intel-GE Care Innovations announced an expanded relationship with the Center for Telehealth at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) to establish an Innovation Living Lab that will create and evaluate new models of care using remote care management technology and approaches to patient behavior change that will facilitate improvements in health outcomes. On Feb. 24, UMMC announced its plans for the Center for Telehealth to move to the new Venyu Technology Center in 2016 where this Innovation Living Lab will be housed. The goal of the Lab is to build a series of Innovation Projects and operationalize those that most effectively connect the care continuum to the home, beyond the walls of a hospital. Care Innovations’ expanded work with UMMC also aims to develop a Training and Education Center for care providers (including formal caregivers, family caregivers and other staff). The Center will have both a physical location and a virtual hub for distance learning and remote access.
Intel-GE Care Innovations, LLC Partners with Kinesis Health Technologies to Reduce Healthcare Costs with More Effective Mobility and Falls Risk Assessment Technology
Oct 20 14
Intel-GE Care Innovations and Kinesis Health Technologies announced a partnership to market and distribute QTUG(TM), a Mobility and Falls Risk assessment technology. The partnership focuses on helping the healthcare and senior living communities more proactively and aggressively prevent falls. QTUG(TM) is designed to give a more comprehensive view of an individual's risk of falling. Based on seven years of clinical data, QTUG(TM) (Quantitative Timed Up and Go) allows both clinicians and health plans to effectively evaluate the therapy services rendered and understand when more or less therapy may be needed. QTUG(TM) is intended for use by healthcare professionals who assess falls risk in older adults, such as falls specialists within hospitals and community-based care nurses to help eliminate falls for residents. Unlike current falls assessment techniques, QTUG(TM) provides an exact, quantitative evaluation of the many dimensions that make up a person's propensity to trip or fall and provides the clinician with a detailed assessment of what elements need to be addressed through therapy. The QTUG(TM) system uses body-worn tri-axial gyroscopes and accelerometers -- wireless inertial sensors -- mounted on each leg combined with signal processing and machine learning methods to provide quantitative assessment of mobility and falls risk, as well as statistical comparisons against a large reference population relative to norms for age and gender. The collected data is streamed wirelessly via Bluetooth(TM) to a touchscreen tablet device that displays the calculated results.
Intel-GE Care Innovations Launches CI Validation Institute for Remote Care and Population Management Health Sectors
Jun 25 14
Intel-GE Care Innovations announced the launch of the CI Validation Institute, a collaboration with disease management and research expert, Alfred Lewis. The goal of the Institute is to improve standards for measuring and promoting the benefits of remote care management solutions and services focused on improving health outcomes for various populations. Through this effort, Care Innovations and Al Lewis want to give organizations involved in population health efforts -- from health plans to health care providers to employers -- an easy way to ensure their vendors and consultants adhere to the high standards of validity, and compete for their business on the basis of integrity and performance. This focus on integrity and performance should increase both the credibility and acceptance of population health programs in general, including remote care monitoring, coordinated care, and other components.
