Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Appoints Kofi Koduah Sarpong as Acting CEO

The former boss of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong, has been appointed as the Acting CEO of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). His appointment is, however, subject to the approval of the Council of State. Dr. Sarpong who is also the former Executive Chairman of Kumasi Ashanti Kotoko football club, takes over from Alex Mould who was appointed, to head of the Corporation in 2013. Dr. Sarpong recently stepped down as the Executive Chairman of Royal Bank Ghana to concentrate on some private work. As part of his working experience, he has also served as the Deputy Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board and also worked with Produce Buying Company Limited as the Deputy Managing Director (Finance and Administration).

Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Announces Management Changes

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has appointed Mr. Thomas Manu and Kwame Ntow Amoah to the positions of deputy chief executives in charge of Exploration & Production and Commercial and Corporate Services respectively. Before working at Exploration & Production and Commercial and Corporate Services, Mr. Manu served as the Director of Operations at the GNPC.

Swiss African Oil Company and PET Volta Investments Gain New Exploration and Production License for Keta Delta Block

Swiss African Oil Company (a subsidiary of Swiss African Petroleum AG) and PET Volta Investments have been awarded a new exploration and production license for the Keta Delta block, located in the Volta Region of Ghana. The Keta Delta block license was awarded following ratification by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana of a joint venture between the Government of Ghana, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Swiss African Oil Company Limited and PET Volta Investments Limited. The new block covers an area of 3,000 square kilometers and it is envisaged that the commencement of operations will provide employment and stimulate local development of the region.
