Oberthur Technologies Supports the MasterCard Aid Network by Providing Pre-Loaded Payment Cards
Feb 3 16
Oberthur Technologies ("OT") announced its support to the MasterCard Aid Network by providing pre-loaded chip cards to give people in need access to basic necessities such as food, medicine and shelter. To address the challenge humanitarian organizations face providing aid in areas of political and economic unrest, MasterCard developed the MasterCard Aid Network, an end-to-end, non-financial service designed to streamline aid distribution even in the absence of a telecommunications infrastructure. Enabled by MC Aid impacted populations can secure basic needs swiftly with the simple insertion of a card. OT provides chip cards pre-loaded with authorization to a selection of goods based on a points value system. Beneficiaries only have to insert their card into a dedicated terminal, select the groceries and produce they are entitled to by tapping the corresponding photos on a screen, and enter a PIN to securely verify their transaction. The MC Aid Network has been tested and proven in real-life situations and has delivered greater efficiency and transparency beyond the cumbersome traditional paper voucher model. OT is able to deliver customized pre-loaded chip cards in any place of the world, where aid is vital, on very short notice.

Daimler AG Chooses Oberthur Technologies to Securely Connect Car Fleet
Jan 6 16
Oberthur Technologies (OT) and Daimler AG announce a new partnership to connect Mercedes-Benz passenger cars due to OT’s embedded remotely programmable SIM. This disruptive embedded connectivity solution will be implemented in Daimler’s vehicles starting with the new Mercedes-Benz E-class from March 2016. Reliability and security of the connectivity is critical for the automotive industry, in particular for services related to passenger safety like emergency calls. At OT, the company believe that to be effective, security systems need to be incorporated within the connected objects and equipment themselves. Cars with embedded and secured connectivity are shaping the future of mobility today. The automotive market, and especially Daimler, is providing a brand new digital experience to drivers and passengers. Connected cars will offer Telematics services such as remote maintenance and telediagnostics, emergency call or breakdown management more proactively. They will also enable a full range of new innovative services enhancing the car user experience such as live traffic information or remote door locking/unlocking, among others. With OT’s automotive-graded eUICC called DIM® DakOTa Auto and OT’s M-Connect solution, Daimler will simplify the integration and management of the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) subscriptions in the cars during their entire life cycle. Fully compliant with GSMA specifications, OT’s eUICC remote subscription management technology is providing the right level of trust and security to simplify MNO on-boarding. Thanks to OT’s solution, Daimler will have the flexibility to choose the most suitable MNO partner during the cars’ lifetime (after contract expiry for instance), over-the-air and without changing any physical components.
