Alameda Health System Announces Executive Appointments

Alameda Health System named James E.T. Jackson and Richard Espinoza into new roles as chief administrative officer of Alameda Hospital, and chief administrative officer of AHS post-acute care, respectively. The appointments are part of an ongoing effort to seamlessly integrate care delivery across the health system. Mr. Jackson has been an integral member of the AHS executive leadership team since 2012, and currently serves as chief administrative officer of San Leandro Hospital. He will now serve as chief administrative officer of both San Leandro and Alameda Hospitals. Mr. Espinoza will have responsibility for post-acute care provider Fairmont Hospital, as well as all acute rehabilitation, sub-acute services and skilled nursing facilities system wide. Mr. Jackson and Mr. Espinoza's integrated leadership roles will ensure a seamless continuum of care for all AHS serves, improving patient and family-centered care and further increasing the value AHS provides to its diverse communities.

Alameda Health System Appoints Ghassan Jamaleddine as Chief Medical Officer, Effective August 1, 2016

Alameda Health System announced the appointment of Ghassan Jamaleddine, MD, as the new Chief Medical Officer. He will begin his role on August 1, 2016 and succeed Joe A. Walker, MD, who has served as Acting Chief Medical Officer since October 2015. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jamaleddine will oversee the clinical operation that includes the quality of care and patient safety, coordination of clinical care, development of clinical information systems, and physician engagement in strategic initiatives. He will also play a key role in the clinical leadership and further development of Alameda Health Partners, the health system's physician organization. Dr. Jamaleddine comes to AHS from New York City Health + Hospital/Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. In 2007, he moved back to New York and began work at Kings County Hospital as the Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In 2010, he became the Chief of Medicine and, in 2013, advanced to the position of Chief Medical Officer. During his tenure at Kings County, he mentored and coached many physicians and introduced several changes that lead to major improvements in the safety and quality of care.

Alameda Health System Names Luis Fonseca as Chief Operating Officer

Alameda Health System (AHS) announced that Luis Fonseca has been named Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Fonseca will provide operational and strategic leadership to the executives of AHS’ hospitals, wellness centers, and skilled nursing facilities. He will also play a key role in ensuring that operations are functioning effectively and strategy is properly executed while maintaining a focus on clinical excellence and quality improvement. Fonseca most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System in Salinas, CA, where he supported growth in new programs and existing services.
