Telenor Hungary Announces Executive Changes

Telenor Hungary CXO Ole Bjorn Sjulstad has been appointed CEO of Telenor Bulgaria as of August 1, 2017. His position will be taken over by Christian Wulff Sondergaard the current head of Telenor's European Public and Regulatory Affairs from his base in Brussels. The new CXO joins Telenor Hungary's Leadership Team with substantial experience in corporate communications and corporate affairs. In his latest assignment, Sondergaard has been working in Brussels as Vice President and Head of Public and Regulatory Affairs of the Telenor Group in Europe. He started his Telenor career as Head of Communications and External Affairs at Telenor Denmark, with previous roles including CEO of a leading communications agency in Denmark and stints at the Danish Parliament and the Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C. He has been a member of Telenor Hungary's board since February 2017.

Telenor Hungary Expands Online Television Service Offering

Telenor Hungary Plc has added the live programs of 21 new television channels to the offering of its online television service. New channels include American news channels (CNN, Fox), popular science channels (e.g. Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and Discovery Science, National Geographic and National Geographic Wild, as well as the thematic channels of Viasat), entertainment channels (Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Disney and Disney Junior, MTV Hits and MTV Rocks, VH1). The MyTV Start package including 7 public service channels and 3 entertainment channels (the latter under a promotion) continues to offer users an opportunity to test online television services without registration. The packages MyTV Plus and MyTV Max now include 50 and 72 channels, respectively. All packages can be combined with HBO GO including the programmes of HBO as an option. Telenor Blue postpaid tariffs have already included the MyTV Start package and the associated unlimited domestic data free of charge. From now on, the users of Telenor Hello Data tariffs including unlimited domestic mobile internet access launched in May can also order MyTV service free of charge. Telenor Hello Data Medium customers can use MyTV Plus, while Hello Data Premium customers can use MyTV Max without any extra payment by placing their order in SMS. The MyTV service is available in Hungary also to non-Telenor customers with a bank card enabled for online payment - without a binding contract. Telenor customers enjoy generous discounts from monthly fees and also from the price of the optional HBO GO service if they sign a binding 2-year contract. Telenor has upgraded its MyTV Android and iOS apps for customers using its television service mostly on a mobile device or a tablet.

Telenor Hungary Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter of 2017

Telenor Hungary reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2017. For the quarter the company's revenue falling to NOK 1.053 billion from 1.117 billion the year before, on the back of reduced handset revenues. Subscription and traffic revenues slid to NOK to 860 million from NOK 908 million while interconnect revenues went lower to NOK 65 million from NOK 68 million. EBITDA declined to NOK 348 million from NOK 354 million while the operator profit rose to NOK 207 million from NOK 190 million. Capex reached NOK 404 million, from NOK 46 million the year earlier.
