Aurora Networks Introduces New Digital Return Path Receiver Technology

Aurora Networks has introduced its high-density upgradeable digital return path receiver technology. This solution complements Aurora's Universal Digital Return transmitter technology that has now been widely deployed in cable networks around the world. With the introduction of DOCSIS 3.1 systems, the importance of a solid, robust, high-performance return path is even greater; digital return is the logical answer. The new Universal Digital Return receiver technology, including the DR3450N, is a very compact solution, doubling today's density- to 48 return segments per 3RU. It has the built-in upgrade capability to support up to twice the return path bandwidth and single or dual return segments per wavelength; saving cost and optimizing a cable operator's network investment. With the digital return transmitter technology, cable operators can deploy a 5-42 MHz system and then, with just a press of a button, have a system which will support a 5-85 MHz return path. No expensive rip-and-replace needed. The solution also includes the BP3400C - an optical backplate. This backplate further increases the flexibility of the digital return receiver; it enables one module to support four single RF return segments (1-fer technology) or two dual RF return segments (2-fer technology) in addition to the bandwidth-doubling capability. The multi-functional universal design saves capital investment, minimizes the need for external cables, simplifies operation and with the hot plug-in/out functionality, simplifies installation.

Aurora Networks Partners with TELEFUNKEN Communications AG to Launch Fiber-Based Fast Internet Services in Germany

TELEFUNKEN Communications AG announced that it has partnered with Aurora Networks to launch new fast internet services. Both residential and commercial customers in select communities in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, can take advantage of these new services. Aurora Networks is supplying its industry-proven Unified PON (Passive Optical Network) portfolio. TELEFUNKEN Communications started construction earlier this year and activated first residential customers in early April. These customers can now enjoy up to 150 Mbps fast internet services. Going forward, they will also be able to sign-up for telephony, digital TV and interactive on-demand services. Moreover, business customers can sign-up for advanced capabilities, including data rates up to 250 Mbps symmetrical. Aurora Networks' Unified PON Portfolio is the ideal solution for operators looking to smoothly deploy a PON architecture, including 10G-EPON as a future capability. It includes high-density and outdoor-hardened chassis platforms, the industry-leading Node PON technology, a comprehensive range of ONTs for both residential and business applications, in addition to its AurOS software solution for DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE).

Aurora Networks Unveils its UniPHY Platform, Newest Addition to Access Portfolio at the Cable Show 2014

Aurora Networks announced the release of its UniPHY Platform. This is the latest addition to its Access portfolio. The new converged services platform provides operators with the capacity and flexibility needed to meet the growing bandwidth requirements of next-generation services. With the UniPHY Platform, operators have a high-performance, future-proof solution to support their bandwidth needs for now and into the future. The platform serves as a highly effective aggregation solution for todays high-speed fiber and coax-based access technologies. The platform supports both PON and cable applications. The UniPHY Platform is integral to Aurora Networks Unified PON Portfolio. This platform is the ideal solution for operators looking to smoothly migrate to a PON architecture, including 10G-EPON in particular. It includes the CableLabs Qualified AurOS software solution for DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE), which enables seamless integration within an operators existing DOCSIS back-office infrastructure. As a result, operators are able to deploy commercial services with advanced provisioning and transport of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) business services. In addition, the UniPHY Platform houses Aurora Networks Universal Services Multiplexer (USM), a key component in its Remote PHY architecture.
