The National Science Foundation Appoints Rebecca Spyke Keiser as Head of Office International Science and Engineering (OISE)

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has selected Rebecca Spyke Keiser to head the agency's Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE). Keiser is a special advisor for NASA's Innovation and Public-Private Partnerships, reporting to the NASA Administrator, and an executive-in-residence at American University. Prior to her current position, she held several positions with NASA, including associate deputy administrator for strategy and policy, associate deputy administrator for policy integration, executive officer to the deputy administrator, and chief of staff for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate.

Katherine Gross Joins as Chair of National Science Foundation Advisory Committee for Biological Sciences

Katherine Gross, MSU Professor of Plant Biology and director of the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station, has been appointed chair of the Advisory Committee for Biological Sciences of the National Science Foundation. The BIO advisory committee provides advice and recommendations to the NSF on support for research, education and human resources in the biological sciences. As the chair, Gross will serve as the lead liaison to the NSF Biological Sciences director and will oversee a committee of more than 20 members. Her current appointment as chair will last until April 2017.

National Science Foundation Appoints Alexander Leonessa as Director for the General and Age Related Disabilities Program

Alexander Leonessa, associate professor of mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech, has joined the National Science Foundation as NSF Director for the General and Age Related Disabilities Program for a two-year period.
