Grab Reportedly Plans To Raise Finance

GrabTaxi Holdings Pte Ltd is planning to raise more than $1.5 billion in a new funding round backed by SoftBank Group Corp. (TSE:9984), people familiar with the matter said. SoftBank is pledging about $1 billion in Grab backed by Tiger Global Management LLC and GGV Capital, the people said, asking not to be named because the matter is private. It wasn’t clear if the money was coming from the Japanese company itself or its yet-to-close SoftBank Vision Fund. Grab declined to comment. SoftBank wasn’t immediately able to comment.

GGV Capital Seeks Finance

GGV Capital is looking to raise its first yuan fund to make it easier to invest in Chinese sectors restricted to foreigners such as the internet. It is now in discussion with investors for a yuan fund of undetermined size, managing partner, Jixun Foo said in an interview.
