Mobilink Announces Management Changes

Mobilink has appointed Anjum Rahman as its director of communication and sustainability, starting 2 January 2017. Rahman will replace Omar Manzur, who took up a role at VimpelCom earlier in November 2016. Rahman led Telenor's communication department between 2010 and 2012, before which she was associated with Express Media Group.

Mobilink announced unaudited earnings results for the third quarter and nine months period ended September 30, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of PKR 38.5 billion against PKR 25.9 billion a year ago. EBITDA was PKR 15.4 billion against PKR 10.6 billion a year ago. Capex increased to PKR 7.6 billion with a LTM capex to revenue ratio of 15.9%, driven by integration expenses. LTM operating cash flow margin was 27.2%.
For the nine months, the company reported total revenue of PKR 96.9 billion against PKR 77.3 billion a year ago. EBITDA was PKR 39.6 billion against PKR 31.2 billion a year ago.
Telenor Reportedly In Talks To Acquire Wateen Telecom

According to the latest news, Telenor ASA (OB:TEL) is holding talks with Wateen Telecom Limited to acquire, which will help the Pakistan arm of Norwegian cellular company to offer high-speed data services in the country as recently the cellular company has started 4g service. It counts to mention here that both Pakistan Mobile Communications Ltd. (Mobilink) and Telenor are separately holding meetings with Wateen, but nothing has been finalized as of yet. “We know we have to move to the next stage of services, as there is high demand of 4G in the country, for which we need one of fastest IT services,” one of the officials of Telenor said. According to sources the potential likely to occur pact with one of leading telecom companies in Pakistan, Wateen, was designed in Oslo. Sources also claimed that everything had been discussed, and only the official response by Wateen is on the waiting list.
