Pivot3 Announces the Availability of its Global Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Software on Dell’s PowerEdge FX2 Servers
Aug 31 15
Pivot3 announced the availability of its Global Hyper-Converged Infrastructure software on Dell’s PowerEdge FX2 servers. The new platform delivers exceptional hyper-converged performance in a very dense form factor by combining the storage efficiency of Pivot3’s patented HCI technology with the physical density of Dell’s PowerEdge FX2 servers. The combined platform leverages the storage efficiency made uniquely possible by Pivot3’s patented Scalar Erasure Coding, which eliminates wasteful replication as a data protection methodology, to make available up to 94% of raw flash storage capacity. The cross-cluster virtual storage area network (SAN) preserves performance for running customer workloads by using only 7% of compute power and yielding 320,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) per 2U enclosure. With Pivot3 HCI layered upon Dell’s PowerEdge FX2 servers, customers get a hyper-converged system that features density similar to that of the standard 16-blade chassis, but with the granularity of rack-mount servers. Flash drives deliver high IOPS performance but remain premium-priced and limited in number when deployed within very dense servers. This makes using a replication-based hyper-converged solution in a high density environment financially prohibitive because of the low useable storage capacity it yields and high resulting cost per terabyte stored when using flash drives. The platform based on Pivot3’s HCI software and Dell’s PowerEdge FX2 servers can be combined with Pivot3’s standard rack-mounted all-flash HCI nodes to achieve the optimal balance of performance, density and capacity to flexibly match the needs of any workload. Four PowerEdge FX2 enclosures with Pivot3 HCI software constitute a 4x4 Scalar Erasure Coding Protection Group that can be scaled-out linearly without limitations.
VeriStor Systems Partners with Pivot3 to Deliver Global Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Solutions
Jul 21 15
VeriStor Systems announced that it has partnered with Pivot3. Together, the two companies will offer high-efficiency hyper-converged data center solutions that are ideal for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Business Continuity (BC)/Disaster Recovery (DR) applications and general IT workloads. By offering all-flash appliances that feature Pivot3's patented vSTAC OS utilizing Scalar Erasure Coding global hyper-converged architecture, VeriStor is powering VDI and BC/DR infrastructures with solutions that provide more performance per appliance and greater savings for customers. The vSTAC software delivers up to 90% usable capacity and protects more drive failures than scale-out approaches offering simple replication. All of the resources in the array are constantly shared across all of the appliances and virtual machines. As a result, Pivot3 appliances support more than two times the workload hosting of other solutions which results in significantly lower total cost of ownership for businesses across user categories. Pivot3's robust partner program is designed to expand the company's rapidly growing reseller channel and enables partners to easily deliver Pivot3's best in class hyper-converged platform to customers. This partnership will provide VeriStor access to the program's tools in order to maximize efficiency and profitability in order to gain a competitive advantage in the market.
Lenovo and Pivot3 Announce Reselling Agreement with Arrow Electronics for Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Solution
Jul 14 15
Pivot3 and Lenovo have partnered to bring Pivot3’s Global Hyper-Converged solution to Lenovo clients. Arrow ECS will be the exclusive distributor of this platform in Europe, expanding a long-standing relationship. The combined solution will be sold as the “Hyper-Converged ONE” appliance initially leveraging a high-performance, best-in-class Lenovo All-Flash platform and will be at first focused on the European market. The Pivot3/Lenovo platform will be sold through Arrow ECS and its channel partners, giving them full access to Pivot3’s HCI offering and the ability to deliver an innovative and economically scalable solution to current and new customers. Channel partners will benefit from a robust training and certification program that includes marketing support, sales enablement and promotional programs. The partnership with Arrow ECS takes the Lenovo ThinkServer™ RD650 Server, installs Pivot3’s HCI software and creates a highly effective hyper-converged appliance. The integration of Pivot3's vSTAC OS™ software and Lenovo’s ThinkServer RD650 server will enable Lenovo appliance users to get maximum storage efficiency, fault tolerance and higher compute performance, all with single pane of glass management while delivering lower total cost of operations. For Arrow ECS, the partnership is a great way to bring hyper-converged infrastructure to one of the fastest growing segments of the IT market and satisfy the need for businesses to quickly scale IT infrastructure.
