AppSense Updates DesktopNow Suite
Jul 31 14
AppSense announced the release of DesktopNow - user environment management suite. Bringing next-level innovation to enterprise IT, the new DesktopNow aims to dramatically reduce IT management costs while extending user productivity and IT controls across hybrid environments with a mix of physical PCs, virtual desktops and desktops-as-a-service (DaaS). Key enhancements include: Simplified installation and setup process, including a new evaluation mode that installs all components in as little as 10 minutes. New personalization and policy templates to simplify virtual and physical desktop deployments in large-scale environments; Enhanced capabilities for non-persistent VDI and physical PC deployments; Improved DaaS support for enterprises that need to seamlessly extend user productivity and IT controls to hybrid environments, including private and public clouds; On-demand end-user entitlements to ensure maximum user productivity while maintaining security and governance; Crowd-sourced insights into user requirements for more proactive policy management. The new DesktopNow requires significantly fewer system resources and less storage capacity than earlier versions. These improvements, along with optimizations DesktopNow applies to the broader desktop environment, combine to greatly reduce IT capital expenses and improve the user experience. Meanwhile, new support and management features reduce help desk tickets and improve IT efficiency, lowering IT operational expenditures.
AppSense, Inc. and Warwickshire Education Services Partner to Provide Kingsbury School with DataNow and Improved ICT Services
Oct 2 13
In a move designed to limit impact on teaching time, increase IT security and encourage more collaboration amongst students, Kingsbury School and Warwickshire Education Services have adopted AppSense DataNow technology. DataNow, which was rolled out earlier this year, provides students of the Diploma of Digital Arts with simple, secure access, synchronisation and sharing capabilities in order to access coursework files no matter where they are, without having to use troublesome and often unsecure portable memory devices. Implementing DataNow has enabled students to access projects from anywhere, virtually eradicated the time wasted on attempting to retrieve data or redoing the same work due to lost USB keys. It has also minimised the spread of malware throughout the school network. As a result more time could be devoted to teaching time and completing course work.
