Celcom Axiata Bhd's Xpax Unveils Magic SIM

Xpax, Celcom Axiata Bhd's main prepaid brand, has unveiled its latest limited edition simcard package, the Magic SIM. A MYR 5 Xpax Magic SIM starter pack comes with free basic internet, free 200 Megabytes (MB) high-speed internet, and 20 free minutes free calls and SMS or SMS to Celcom numbers. The Magic Box package entails a set of internet plans from as low as MYR 1 per day for 60 MB per second to MYR 25 per day for 1GB high-speed internet.

Celcom reported earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014. For the period, the company reported its revenue decline 3.6% year-on-year, to MYR 7.7 billion in the financial year ended December 31, 2014. Profit after tax and minority interests in the year declined by 15.5% to MYR 1.7 billion, up from MYR 2 billion in fiscal 2013. Capex stood at MYR 787 million in 2014, down from MYR 856 million in fiscal 2013. EBITDA declined by 9.7% to MYR 3.1 billion.
Celcom Axiata Bhd and SK Planet Form Joint Venture Company

Celcom Axiata Bhd and SK Planet have formed a joint venture company to pursue e-commerce opportunities in Malaysia. The parties sealed the alliance in South Korea. Celcom announced that this would enable it to further participate in the digital industry and build long-term capabilities in the digital space. The joint venture, Celcom Planet, aims to be a market leader in Malaysia's e-commerce industry, which is expected to grow rapidly as shoppers look for competitive prices and a wider variety of products. Celcom Planet is expected to launch an optimised e-commerce platform by the second half of next year. Shazalli is confident that the collaboration will be successful due to both parties' experience and expertise.
