Nov 13 15
PT Toyota Astra Motor has launched its all-new Innova multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in Indonesia, according to a company statement. The 2016 model year Innova is offered in three variants: G Type, V Type and therange-topping Q Type. The new car measures 4,735 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, 1,795 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, offering more space than the previous model. The model is available with two engine options: 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine providing maximum power of 139 PS at 5,600 rpm and 183 Nm of maximum torque at 4,000 rpm; and a new 2.4-litre diesel engine producing 149 PS at 3,400 rpm and 359 Nm of torque at 1,200-2,600 rpm. The engines are paired with either a five-speed manual, or a new six-speed automatic/manual transmission, replacing the four-speed automatic transmission. The latest model has received an all-new grille, swept back headlights, LED daytime running lights, and new fog lights. The new Innova's exterior changes also include redesigned wheel-arches, all-new rear bumper and tail lights, among others. As far as infotainment and safety features are concerned, the new Toyota Innova will receive automatic climate control, dual front and knee airbags, touch-screen infotainment system with navigation, among others. Sales of the model are expected to begin in Indonesia before the end of this month. The Innova nameplate remains within the top-three best-selling nameplates for the Toyota brand in Indonesia, and contributes more than 20% of its total sales in the country. The company predict Indonesian sales of the Innova nameplate to hit 43,437 units this year, down 21.2% year on year (y/y), before falling further to 42,007 units in 2016, mainly due to current sluggish vehicle demand conditions. The Innova is locally produced at Toyota's Karawang plant in West Java, Indonesia. As well as Indonesia, the new Innova is expected to be launched in Taiwan by end-2015, before entering markets in South Asia and Middle East/Africa next year.
