Amãna Bank announced earnings results for the six months ended 30 June 2016. For the six months, the company reported profit before tax of LKR 78 million, despite challenging and competitive market conditions. Financing income improved remarkably by 35.7% to LKR 1.8 billion indicating the Bank’s strong top line performance in its core banking activities, predominantly focusing on SMEs. Net financing income from core banking activities, grew year-on-year by 23.5% to reach LKR 866.3 million. Net operating income for the first six months surpassed the LKR 1 billion mark to close the half at LKR 1.1 billion, growing by 19.2% from first half 2015.

Profit before tax was LKR 50,529,000 against LKR 23,065,000 a year ago. Profit for the period was LKR 38,279,000 against LKR 23,065,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were LKR 0.03 against LKR 0.02 a year ago. Net asset value per ordinary share was LKR 4.58 as on March 31, 2016. Net cash flow from operating activities was LKR 228,690,000 against LKR 402,337,000 a year ago. Acquisition of property, plant & equipment was LKR 19,524,000 against LKR 18,141,000 a year ago. Acquisition of intangible assets was LKR 14,525,000 against LKR 4,767,000 a year ago. Return on assets (before tax) was 0.4% and return on equity was 2.6%.
