Emergency Medicine Physicians and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe announced the establishment of US Acute Care Solutions (USACS). USACS will be majority-owned by physicians and is focused on building a national leader in emergency medicine and hospitalist services. EMP's Medical Group and practice management operations will become the foundation for USACS. The partnership agreement, which was approved by EMP's Board of Directors and shareholders, is expected to close in second quarter of 2015.

Emergency Medicine Physicians will manage the emergency departments at Allegheny General Hospital, West Penn Hospital, Canonsburg Hospital and Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, the company said. The joint venture will also manage the emergency departments at AHN's Forbes Hospital, Allegheny Valley Hospital and the Allegheny Valley Outpatient Center in New Kensington. The company also announced it would manage emergency departments at Highlands Hospital in Connellsville and Jameson Hospital in New Castle, both independent hospitals.
Allegheny Health Network Forms Joint Venture with Emergency Medicine Physicians

Allegheny Health Network and Emergency Medicine Physicians have formed a joint venture (JV), Allegheny Health Network Emergency Medicine Management, LLC, to manage the emergency departments at eight hospitals in western Pennsylvania, US. Both the entities are based in the US.
The JV will manage the emergency departments of four new sites owned by the Network, including Allegheny General Hospital and West Penn Hospital, both in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Canonsburg Hospital in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; and Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. JV will also manage the emergency departments at the Network's Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Pennsylvania; Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania; and the Allegheny Valley Outpatient Center in New Kensington, Pennsylvania; as well as at two independent hospitals; Highlands Hospital in Connellsville, Pennsylvania; and Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The JV will be effective April 1, 2014.
