Newsy has signed a distribution agreement with the publishing arm of Schurz Communications Inc. Under the agreement, Newsy videos appear on the websites of Schurz's daily and weekly newspapers across the US. Newsy videos are now live via streaming players on the websites of six Schurz newspapers. Schurz Communications Inc. announced that Jessie Agostino is being promoted Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President. Jessie has had a long and distinguished career with company and has been promoted multiple times. As CFO, he will be responsible for Treasury, Tax, Accounting Policy, Budgeting and Reporting. Brian Lynch is being promoted to Senior Vice President of Cable. Brian has done an excellent job leading current cable operations and directing acquisitions of Western Broadband, Orbitel, and Long Lines. Brian’s team is already responsible for the large majority of the company’s cash flow and capital investments. The company also announced the appointment of Chris Dautel as Director of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development. Already a corporate Vice President, Scott Schurz Jr.’s role is evolving to become VP of Human Resources and Administration, responsible for HR, Compensation and Benefit Strategy, Talent Recruitment, and Shareholder Relations. Scott’s team will provide the necessary focus and resources so the company can build on solid progress in the HR and Administration areas. Jessie, Brian, and Scott will report directly to Todd Schurz, President/CEO and should continue to do a great job keeping the trains running on time. A year ago, both Marci Burdick and Gary Hoipkemier told that they wanted to step back from their roles, Senior Vice President of the Electronic Division and Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President respectively, at some point in 2016 and to move into other roles as they transition to retirement.

Andy Bruns, President of Herald-Mail Media reported that Schurz Communications Inc. is looking for acquisitions. He said, “Schurz Communications will consider diversifying its operations, possibly acquiring additional newspapers or new operations.
