Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced that Jonathan K. Youngwood has been appointed as co-head of the Firm’s global Litigation Practice, joining current co-head, Paul Curnin. Jon succeeds Tom Rice, who has served as co-head with Paul Curnin since 2011. Tom, a prominent commercial trial lawyer, will continue his practice as a partner in the Firm, actively representing clients, and in his current role as a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Tom leads some of the Firm’s most important matters, including significant litigations related to LIBOR and RMBS securities casesJon currently leads the Firm’s Securities Litigation Practice, and for more than 20 years he has represented financial institutions, corporations, executives and boards of directors in a wide range of high-profile litigations, arbitrations and regulatory investigations. The new partners are: David Azarkh (New York) - David focuses his practice on capital markets, securities and corporate governance matters. He represents major investment banks, large corporate issuers and private equity sponsors in connection with securities offerings ranging from initial public offerings, 144A high yield debt offerings, leveraged buyouts, permanent capital vehicle structures, registered follow-on and secondary offerings, tender offers and commitment letters. Carol Daniel (London) - Carol concentrates her practice on U.S. capital markets transactions. Carol has extensive experience working for private equity sponsors, issuers and underwriters on their high yield bond offerings, restructurings, initial public offerings and other corporate finance transactions. Susannah Geltman (New York) - Susannah represents clients in a broad range of high-stakes litigation matters including securities, class action, insurance and reinsurance coverage and shareholder derivative disputes. Brian Gluck (New York) - Brian concentrates his practice on banking, credit and acquisition finance. Jonathan Lindabury (New York) - Jonathan’s practice is focused on derivatives. iKang Healthcare Group Inc. announced that the special committee of the company’s board of directors has retained Simpson Thacher & Bartlett as its international legal counsel, and Walkers as its Cayman Islands legal counsel in connection with its review and evaluation of the preliminary non-binding proposal letter dated August 31, 2015 from Mr. Ligang Zhang, the company’s founder, chairman and chief executive officer and certain of his affiliated entities, and FV Investment Holdings (together with Mr. Zhang and his affiliated entities, the Buyer Group), to acquire all of the outstanding shares of iKang not already owned by the Buyer Group in a going private transaction.
