Textron Systems announced earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company’s revenues were up $45 million, primarily due to higher volume in the Marine and Land Systems product line, partially offset by lower volume in the Weapons and Sensors product line. Manufacturing revenues were $458 million against $413 million a year ago. Segment profit was $40 million against $44 million a year ago.
For the nine months, the company’s manufacturing revenues were $1,351 million against $1,224 million a year ago. Segment profit was $102 million against $133 million a year ago.

Textron Inc. announced that Lisa Atherton has been named president & CEO of Textron Systems. She succeeds Ellen Lord, who will be nominated by President Donald J. Trump as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics within the Department of Defense. Atherton most recently served as executive vice president of Military Business at Bell Helicopter where she provided strategic direction, overall management and performance for all government programs and business development efforts. Prior to joining Textron, Atherton was an officer in the U.S. Air Force and spent eight years in Air Combat Command’s Directorate of Requirements, helping shape the budget and operational requirements and needs for the Combat Air Forces.
Insitu and Textron Systems Announce Contract for Mid-Endurance Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Insitu has received a maximum $45 million modification to an existing contract for Mid-Endurance Unmanned Aircraft Systems services. The modification covers a 12-month extension of the existing contract, with the total value of the contract not to exceed $195 million. The extension is needed to cover gaps in vital services while the transition to the MEUAS III program is underway. The contract will be based on task orders and funded by operations and maintenance appropriations. Fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $3.3 million have been obligated upon the award. Insitu and Textron Systems Unmanned Systems have been selected to compete for fee-for-service contracts that could be worth up to $475 million.
