ThyssenKrupp AG Signs Contract with T-Systems to Set-Up and Operate Data Centers

ThyssenKrupp AG has signed a contract with T-Systems for the set-up and operation of central data centers. Before the end of the year, T-Systems will start transferring IT systems and services previously accommodated in around 700 data rooms and eleven data centers to five global data centers. In addition, over 80,000 computer workstations and 10,000 server systems of ThyssenKrupp worldwide are to be moved to the cloud. The IT resources will then be made available from T-Systems data centers via secure data networks. In the future, ThyssenKrupp employees will get their desktop services including applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Lync directly from the secure cloud. As a result, employees of the diversified industrial group will be able to use workplace devices around the world flexibly and easily and share data and documents securely. This will make it possible for them to collaborate globally using the same applications and platforms with consistent data and analyses.

Deutsche Telekom's IT unit T-Systems announced that it has won a cloud contract from ThyssenKrupp with a volume in the three-digit million euro range. Under the deal, T-Systems will move around 80,000 computer workstations and 10,000 sever systems of ThyssenKrupp in 34 countries to the cloud.

T-Systems and Informatica Corporation have joined ranks to provide customers with a comprehensive Cloud-based integration and data management service. The service enables customers to integrate data and applications from all sources, including those residing within public or private clouds and those in on-premise environments. The corporate customers unit of Deutsche Telekom is the first Cloud service provider to embed Informatica's world's leading data integration software within its datacenter in Germany. T-Systems will operate and manage a new 'Data Orchestration as a Service (DOaaS)' powered by Informatica. This service gives customers a new approach to addressing their integration needs without having to install any software on-premise. The combination of Informatica's leading Cloud Integration capabilities and T-Systems secure German cloud will enable T-Systems vast client base to securely and cost-effectively meet their cloud integration needs without having to build and maintain their own 'homegrown' integration solutions. The new service will be launched at the end of 2014.
