Flybe has confirmed an expansion of its 2015-16 winter schedule to include two new routes between Edinburgh and Liverpool, and between Southampton and Dusseldorf; the return of a direct daily service between Exeter and Glasgow as well as added extra frequency on 20 existing routes that includes the return of twice daily flights between Southampton and Guernsey. To further meet passenger demand, Flybe has also increased the number of flights on many of its most popular routes from key airports, highlighted as follows: Birmingham - Amsterdam/Dusseldorf/Edinburgh/Glasgow/Hannover/Milan and Stuttgart; Manchester - Aberdeen/Amsterdam/Dusseldorf/Hannover/Paris Charles de Gaulle; Edinburgh - Belfast City and London City; Glasgow - East Midlands and Birmingham; and Southampton - Amsterdam and Manchester. From Manchester, Flybe will this winter offer 16 routes, operating more flights to Amsterdam than any of its competitors on this popular route with the tripling of daily flights to six a day. Flybe has also added extra flights to both Paris Charles de Gaulle and Dusseldorf to benefit business travel, and the airline's routes to Nantes in regional France will operate over Christmas and New Year. From Birmingham, Flybe will operate 17 routes during winter. Highlights include extra flights on the airline's popular Amsterdam route which will now operate up to five times a day; extra daily flights to and from Aberdeen, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Milan and Stuttgart during peak winter periods; and the return of its popular weekly Saturday ski service to Chambery from 19th December. Other highlights of the airline's 2016 Winter schedule include the extension of Exeter and Southampton sun routes through to the first week in November to accommodate those travelling over the half term holiday; the return of weekly ski routes from Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Southampton; and routes to regional France operating over Christmas and New Year from Southampton and Manchester.
Flybe Opens New Base at Cardiff Airport
Jun 15 15
Flybe has opened its new base at Cardiff Airport, with passengers boarding inaugural flights to Edinburgh, Paris and Dublin as part of its extended route network that includes new routes to Cork, Duesseldorf, Faro, Glasgow, Munich and Milan. The first of the two 118-seat Embraer 195 aircraft to be based at the airport jetted into Cardiff to begin operations. The second aircraft will enter into service on September 1, 2015. Having two 118-seat Embraer jet aircraft based at Wales' national airport enables the airline to improve frequency and capacity on its existing routes to Belfast City, Dusseldorf, Jersey and later in the year, on its 2015-16 Winter service to Geneva. The 10-year agreement secured with Cardiff Airport creates an additional half-million extra seats for sale each year, supporting 50 new jobs that includes flight crew.
