Thomson Reuters Collaborates with British Medical Journals Publishing to Optimize its Peer Review Process
Sep 12 14
Thomson Reuters announced a collaboration with British Medical Journals to optimize the efficiency of the article peer-review process and solve the industry-wide problem of reviewer fatigue by utilizing ScholarOne Reviewer Locator, an extension of ScholarOne Manuscripts, the innovative peer-review and online submission program for scholarly publishers. As part of ScholarOne Manuscripts, Reviewer Locator enables BMJ and its publishing partners to quickly and easily identify the most appropriate peer reviewers through a complex search algorithm that identifies article level meta-data in Web of Science the premier scientific search and discovery platform and the industry's authority in science, social science, and arts and humanities citation indexes to find reviewers with established publication records. Reviewer Locator then automatically recommends potential peer reviewers based on this analysis. Editors of BMJ journals use these recommendations to supplement their already-established networks of reviewers, to find the most appropriate reviewers and avoid over-working their core reviewer pool, leading to faster turnaround times for authors and more informative reviews. ScholarOne Manuscripts is an innovative peer review and online submission program for scholarly publishers. It offers publishers the ability to balance the need for comprehensive information gathering with an author's desire to quickly submit an article. ScholarOne Manuscripts integrates manuscript invitation, submission, correspondence, reviewer management, reporting and user data management within one intuitive platform.
Association Of American Medical Colleges and BMJ Announce Collaboration to Offer Online Learning Resources to Support Health Care Organizations
Jun 10 13
The Association of American Medical Colleges and BMJ announced a collaboration to create innovative online learning resources that will support clinical teams and health systems in their transition to new payment models. The collaboration was conceived following the establishment of the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) in 2011. As part of this collaboration, the AAMC and BMJ will produce a series of online educational products, entitled maximizing value: Payment Models and Care Redesign, that will prepare health care organizations and providers facing any type of payment system reform, as well as the quality, cost, and efficiency mandates attached to them. The initial online course from the Maximizing Value suite of e-learning resources, 'Bundled Payments Essentials,' will include online modules (accredited for category 1 CME) that can be viewed individually or as an integrated course. Designed for health care professionals--from senior leaders to frontline staff--the course will lead participants through interactive online learning modules in which the user progresses from the basics of bundled payments to design, execution, and implementation strategies. The modules stem from the AAMC's role as a facilitator/convener for 10 institutions participating in the BPCI initiative. Under BPCI, select health organizations agree to enter into payment arrangements that include performance and financial accountability for an episode of care. As a convener, the AAMC provides technical assistance, data analysis, standardization recommendations, and educational tools to the group.
