Mobinil Telecommunications S.A.E. Key Developments

Naguib Sawiris Reportedly Mulls Sale Of ECMS Stake

Naguib Sawiris is planning to sell stake in The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services SAE (CASE:EMOB) (ECMS). He plans to sell off the 5% stake he holds in ECMS via Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding S.A.E. (CASE:OTMT). According to Ahram Online, the Executive cited poor internal management of Verizon Wireless Inc (cellco) by Orange (ENXTPA:ORA), as the main reason for selling. When asked if rumors that he was to divest his holding in Mobinil Telecommunications S.A.E. were true, with reference to Orange's management of ECMS he was cited as saying, “But of course; they ruined the company, very big companies tend to be like public sector companies.”

Mobinil Denies Reported Sale By Orange

Mobinil Telecommunications S.A.E. has denied media reports that Orange (ENXTRA:ORA) plans to divest its stake in Mobinil. Mobinil Chief Executive Officer, Yves Gouthier said Orange was not considering selling its stake in Mobinil due to Egyptian operator's losses in the past two years, and the French company will continue to invest in the local market. Gouthier explained that the owner sees the Egyptian market as promising and with strong growth opportunities.
