Telekomunikasi Indonesia to Build Data Centre, Telecom Hub in Singapore

Telekomunikasi Indonesia International has announced it has received the first plot of land at Singapore's Data Centre Park from Jurong Town Corporation for the development of a data centre and telecommunication hub. The facility will be built at DCP in Jurong on an 8,000-square meters plot of land. The new facility is expected to strengthen Telin Singapore's infrastructure to support PT Telkom Indonesia's regional growth and its international network expansion. Construction of the 20,000 square metres data centre will start in 2015 and the centre is expected to start supporting its customers in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Telekom Malaysia Bhd forms a consortium with 14 international telecommunications operators for the installation of undersea fibre optic cables linking Singapore to France. The collaboration is with 14 partners including Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd, China Mobile International Ltd, China Global Telecommunications Limited, China Network Communications Group Co. Ltd, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co, Orange, Myanmar Post and Telecom. The other partners are PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International, Saudi Telecom Company, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, Sri Lanka Telecom Plc, Telecom Italy Sparkle, TOT Public Co. Ltd, and Yemen International Telecommunications Co. The joint venture is part of TM's initiative in support of the government's National Broadband Plan and the Economic Transformation Programme by expanding TM in collaboration with telecommunication companies in other countries.
