Zong Launches Zong M811, Low-Cost 4G LTE Handset

Zong launched a low-cost 4G LTE phone in the local market. The Zong M811 phone features the Android 4.3 OS and comes with a Qualcomm Quad-Core processor and 1GB of RAM along with 4GB of internal memory. Zong had launched 4G LTE services in September 2014.

China Mobile Pulls Out Of Warid Race

China Mobile Pakistan Limited (Zong) has dropped out of the race to acquire Warid Telecom (Pvt) Limited due to unjustifiable selling price by the sellers while Zong has decided to stay focused on 3G and Long Distance International (LDI) licences auction, it was learnt. Zong Chief Public Relations Officer Sikandar Naqi confirming the news told Daily Times that subsequent to due diligence the company has decided that going to bid for Warid will not be an adequate move. He said that the evaluation and assessment does not rationalize the selling amount of Warid.

China Mobile Eyes Warid

China Mobile Pakistan Limited is considering to acquire Warid Telecom Pakistan LLC. China Mobile has mandated MAS ClearSight Ltd. to evaluate the deal and assist the company during the acquisition process. The News International quoted Sikander Naqi, China Mobile's Head of PR, as saying, "We are looking into Warid very seriously and it does make a lot of business sense for us to go with the deal." Naqi also added that China Mobile has given the company a mandate to go ahead with the bid. Pakistan Mobile Communications Ltd., Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (ADX:ETISALAT) and Ooredoo Q.S.C. (DSM:ORDS) are also thought to be interested in buying Warid.
