ScaleMP Introduces New Release and Revolutionary Capabilities
Nov 10 15
ScaleMP announced the release of its patented vSMP Foundation Version 7.0. vSMP Foundation Version 7.0 is already available for limited release, and will be generally available for download or purchase before year end. Highlights of this major release include: Main system memory expansion using Flash storage (Flash Expansion); Certification of Mellanox 100G EDR for memory backplane. The new capability for aggregating regular DRAM-based memory together with non-volatile memory (NVM) into a single coherent main system memory is effectively revolutionizing the use of high-speed Flash in the data center, moving up from storage functionality to main memory capability. Flash memory offers higher capacity at lower price point as compared with RAM. It allows for an 80% cost reduction in existing system memory, or 10X increase in system memory with less than 2X increase in price. OEMs are already shipping Flash Expansion products using ScaleMP’s innovative technology, and ScaleMP is aggressively ramping up support for additional Flash-based storage devices, expected to ship in the first half of 2016. With vSMP Foundation’s newly announced support for 100 Gbps EDR InfiniBand from Mellanox, SMP systems can now be built with up to 100 Gbps bidirectional memory backplanes, fully non-blocking, with ultra-low latency. This enables in-memory computing with unprecedented performance for both HPC and in-memory, very-large databases.
ScaleMP Announces Release of its Patented vSMP Foundation, Version 6.0
Nov 13 14
ScaleMP (TM) announced the release of its patented vSMP Foundation, Version 6.0. In addition, ScaleMP demonstrates continued success in the marketplace with the addition of new customers. vSMP Foundation, Version 6.0 is currently available for download or purchase. Highlights of this major release include: Star-Connect: connect multiple systems in memory-expansion (MEX) mode without InfiniBand switch, only to primary board. Star Connect supports link redundancy and backplane load-balancing, Significant performance improvements for MEX mode, Significant performance improvements for AnyIO, Support for Intel Xeon E5-26xx v3 processors, and Automatic manipulation of Linux command line switches, for easier and optimal system tuning. Additionally, ScaleMP had recently concluded a number of new installations, with RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems presenting at an upcoming SC14-related event. RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems, the leading defense systems company that developed the counter-rocket Iron Dome system, has replaced its legacy SMP solution with vSMP Foundation software. At the upcoming HP-CAST meeting, RAFAEL will present their experience with vSMP Foundation in a session titled, 'Saving Lives with HPC: RAFAEL and the Iron Dome Counter-Rocket Defense System. Having used ScaleMP software with HP blades to replace monolithic SMP with software-based on-demand SMP and seeing more than 4x performance gains on their OpenMP applications, RAFAEL's CIO will discuss how HPC in general and a software-based SMP system will allow RAFAEL to lead defense systems development globally.
