Company Overview of ScaleMP, Inc.
ScaleMP, Inc. offers virtualization solutions for high-end computing. Its products include vSMP Foundation Free that allows users to create a virtual large-memory system from industry standard servers; vSMP Foundation that aggregates multiple industry-standard x86 servers into one single virtual high-end system; and vSMP Foundation Advanced Platform that offers on-demand SMP, which provides utilization by reusing the same systems for distributed and shared-memory workloads. The company also offers Memory Expansion, a mode for applications requiring a large memory footprint that enables users and system administrators to address large RAM amounts for analytics and big-data applications; and S...

ScaleMP Announces Benchmarking Results for x86 Systems Using its vSMP Foundation Software
Feb 22 16
ScaleMP announced benchmarking results for x86 systems using the company’s vSMP Foundation software. vSMP Foundation claimed the top result for two Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) benchmarks. vSMP Foundation enables customers to create shared-memory systems from their cloud-enabled data centers, providing applications with large memory and high core count for the lowest total cost of ownership. This line of products provides for the most power-efficient SMP system, leveraging commercial off-the-shelf hardware. The on-demand nature of vSMP Foundation improves system utilization and reduces management complexity. ScaleMP benchmarking experts used a 128-processor SMP made of 64 dual-socket nodes and aggregated into a single virtual shared-memory system having 1,536 cores and 16TB RAM. It was tested with the SPEC® CPU2006 benchmark suite to gain results: a SPECint®2006 (CINT2006) rate result of 40,200 and a SPECfp 2006 (CFP2006) rate result of 33,300, beating previous top position holder SGI UV systems by as much as 29%. In doing so, ScaleMP’ solidified its leadership in powering high-end x86 systems.
Weizmann Institute of Science Chooses vSMP Foundation
Dec 9 15
ScaleMP announced that Weizmann Institute of Science has chosen vSMP Foundation. vSMP Foundation delivers an effective alternative to proprietary, costly symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems, aggregating the power of multiple commodity x86 servers into one larger virtual SMP. vSMP Foundation aggregates multiple industry-standard, off-the-shelf x86 servers into a single virtual high-end system. vSMP Foundation provides customers with an alternative to traditional expensive symmetrical multiprocessing (SMP) systems, and also offers simplified clustering infrastructure with a single operating system. It supports aggregation of up to 128 servers into a single virtual SMP system, providing customers with: Up to 2 petabytes of shared memory for large memory requirements. Up to a 32,768 processor virtual SMP, proven scalability and record-breaking memory bandwidth. Ease of use and lowest total cost of ownership for clusters coupled with simplified storage architecture. On-demand SMP with support for most common provisioning systems, allowing for increased data center utilization with consolidated architecture.
ScaleMP Introduces New Release and Revolutionary Capabilities
Nov 10 15
ScaleMP announced the release of its patented vSMP Foundation Version 7.0. vSMP Foundation Version 7.0 is already available for limited release, and will be generally available for download or purchase before year end. Highlights of this major release include: Main system memory expansion using Flash storage (Flash Expansion); Certification of Mellanox 100G EDR for memory backplane. The new capability for aggregating regular DRAM-based memory together with non-volatile memory (NVM) into a single coherent main system memory is effectively revolutionizing the use of high-speed Flash in the data center, moving up from storage functionality to main memory capability. Flash memory offers higher capacity at lower price point as compared with RAM. It allows for an 80% cost reduction in existing system memory, or 10X increase in system memory with less than 2X increase in price. OEMs are already shipping Flash Expansion products using ScaleMP’s innovative technology, and ScaleMP is aggressively ramping up support for additional Flash-based storage devices, expected to ship in the first half of 2016. With vSMP Foundation’s newly announced support for 100 Gbps EDR InfiniBand from Mellanox, SMP systems can now be built with up to 100 Gbps bidirectional memory backplanes, fully non-blocking, with ultra-low latency. This enables in-memory computing with unprecedented performance for both HPC and in-memory, very-large databases.
