Tommye Barie is the new chair of the board of directors of the American Institute of CPAs. Barie, 53, was elected to the one-year volunteer post this morning by the AICPA governing Council, which concludes its annual fall meeting on October 21, 2014.
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Announces Executive Changes

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) recently appointed Marriott School of Management associate dean Steve Glover to its Auditing Standards Board. Glover will meet with the board four times a year to update and revise the standards followed by the AICPAs 400,000 members across the country. Glover will assume the position in January 2015 and succeed Kay W. Tatum of the University of Miami. He anticipates serving a three-year term. Glover was named associate dean of the Marriott School in July 2013 after serving as chair of the School of Accountancy since May 2012.
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Announces Management Changes

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has named Jim Dolinar, CPA chairman of the Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC). Dolinar is managing partner of the Assurance Professional Practice, national office of Crowe Horwath LLP, Chicago, Ill. As chairman, he will head one of the Institute's most important volunteer bodies. It serves as the AICPA's official voice on financial reporting matters and develops industry-specific accounting guidance. The committee's membership includes representation from business and industry, public practice and academia. Dolinar will succeed Paul at the committee's November meeting. Dolinar currently serves as the vice-chair on the Center for Audit Quality's (CAQ) Professional Practice Executive Committee (PPEC) and is also a member of the CAQ's Research Advisory Board (RAB).
