Vishay Intertechnology Inc. introduced a new series of surface-mount TransZorb® transient voltage suppressors (TVS) in the low-profile DO-214AA package. Vishay General Semiconductor SMBJXXD series TVS achieve ± 3.5 % breakdown voltage tolerance and very low reverse leakage current. Compared to previous-generation devices, the new series offers excellent clamping features with higher peak pulse surge current and lower clamping voltage for better input protection of IC devices. SMBJXXD series TVS are designed to protect sensitive electronics against voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lightning. The devices are ideal for DC adapter power line protection, power supply snubber circuits, and general voltage surge protection in consumer, computer, industrial, and telecommunication equipment. Available with unidirectional polarity, the SMBJXXD series consists of 47 TVS with stand-off voltages from 5 V to 188 V. The devices offer a temperature range from -55 °C to +150 °C and meet the MSL Level 1 standard, per -STD-020, LF maximum peak of 260 °C. Ideal for automated placement, the TVS are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. Samples and production quantities of the new SMBJXXD series are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for large orders.

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. Extends Rated Voltage of 157 PUM-SI Snap-In Power Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors to 500 V for Solar Inverters and Industrial Motor Control

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. announced that it has extended its 157 PUM-SI series of ultra-miniature snap-in power aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a higher rated voltage of 500 V. Designed for power supplies, industrial motor controls, and solar PV inverters, the enhanced devices save board space and lower costs by allowing designers to utilize one component instead of two 250 V capacitors. Featuring a cylindrical aluminum case, insulated with a blue sleeve, the Vishay BCcomponents snap-in capacitors are available in 23 case sizes ranging from 22 x 25 mm to 35 x 60 mm. At 500 V, the devices feature a maximum operating temperature to +85 °C and a long useful life of = 5,000 hours. As polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, 157 PUM-SI series devices are ideally suited for smoothing, filtering, and energy storage in pulsed power applications. The RoHS-compliant capacitors are also available in a keyed polarity snap-in version.

Vishay Intertechnology Mini Radial-Leaded PTC Thermistors Provide Small and Accurate Remote Over-Temperature Sensing

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. introduced a new series of mini radial-leaded positive temperature coefficient (PTC) sensing thermistors. Featuring tiny < 4.0 mm body diameters, a wide range of well-defined temperature levels from +80 °C to +150 °C, and standard ± 5 °C tolerances, devices in the Vishay BCcomponents PTCSL03 [1] series are designed to provide compact and accurate remote over-temperature sensing in alternative energy, industrial, and consumer applications. The devices released provide excellent long-term behavior of Î"T ≤ 1 °C after 1,000 hours for reliable over-temperature protection and control in power supplies, power inverters, motor drives, lighting drivers, smart fuse boxes, and pump motors. The sensors feature maximum R25 of 120 Ω, maximum voltage of 30 V, a dissipation factor of 5 mW/K, and a fast thermal time constant of 6 s. PTCSL03 series devices consist of a medium-resistivity doped barium titanate ceramic chip with copper-clad steel wire leads. Providing a rugged, durable construction, the sensors feature a high-temperature silicone coating and are also available as bare pellets upon request. The RoHS-compliant devices are offered in tape-on-reel and bulk packaging.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Releases New Bidirectional Symmetrical ESD Protection Diodes in the Compact SOT-323 Package

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. released new bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) ESD protection diodes in the compact SOT-323 package. Measuring only 2.3 mm by 2.1 mm with a low 0.95 mm profile, the space-saving Vishay Semiconductors single-line VLIN26A1-03G and dual-line VCAN26A2-03G offer low capacitance and leakage current for the protection of automotive data lines against transient voltage signals. For LIN bus applications, the VLIN26A1-03G provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000-4-2 at ± 30 kV (air and contact discharge), while the VCAN26A2-03G protects two lines for CAN-Bus and FLEX-Bus applications. The AEC-Q101-qualified devices feature low load capacitance of 10 pF typical and 15 pF maximum, low maximum leakage current of < 0.05 µA, and a working voltage of ± 26.5 V. The protection diodes are lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant. Samples and production quantities of the new VLIN26A1-03G and VCAN26A2-03G are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for large orders.

Vishay Intertechnology’s RCP Series Thick Film Chip Resistors Offer High Thermal Conductivity for Power to 22 W in New 0505, 0603, and 2512 Case Sizes

Intertechnology Inc. announced that its RCP series of thick film chip resistors for high-power, surface-mount RF applications is now available in the compact 0505, 0603, and 2512 case sizes. The Vishay Dale devices offer very high thermal conductivity for power ratings up to 22 W with active temperature control. Optimized for many applications in the automotive, aerospace, military, industrial, and telecom markets, RCP series resistors feature a stable thick film resistive element on an aluminum nitride (AlN) substrate and an epoxy encapsulation. In addition to the new case sizes, the existing 1206 case has been enhanced to offer a rating of 2.4 W with a standard board mount. The devices feature an operating temperature range from -55 °C to +155 °C. RCP series resistors offer a resistance range from 10 O to 2 kO, tolerance of ± 2 % and ± 5 %, and TCR of ± 100 ppm/°C. For improved solderability, the devices are available with tin/lead and lead (Pb)-free wraparound terminations over a nickel barrier. The resistors are compliant with RoHS directive 2011/65/EU and halogen-free according to the JEDEC JS709A definition.
