AT&T Tallies More Than 260 Enhancements to Wireless Network in Southern Ohio Counties

AT&T announced that expansion and enhancement of its wireless network in southern Ohio included more than 260 upgrades in 2014. Counties enjoying these enhancements include Adams, Athens, Belmont, Brown, Butler, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Gallia, Greene, Guernsey, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Licking, Madison, Meigs, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, Warren and Washington. The upgrades include activation of new cell sites, adding capacity, and upgrading cell sites to provide fast 4G LTE mobile Internet speeds. More than 90 cell sites in southern Ohio were upgraded to provide fast 4G LTE mobile Internet speeds. More than 50 new cell sites were activated. And in more than 120 instances, cell sites in southern Ohio received added layers of frequency, also known as 'carriers', to provide extra wireless capacity to a cell site's coverage area.

AT&T Expands Mobile Internet at Alaska Airlines Arena

AT&T expanded its mobile Internet coverage at Alaska Airlines Arena by upgrading the distributed antenna system (DAS) to enhance customers' cellular experience throughout the facility. A DAS installation consists of multiple strategically-placed antennas that distribute AT&T's wireless network coverage throughout Alaska Airlines Arena, providing for more efficient management of wireless capacity in heavily-trafficked areas, such as arenas. A DAS has the ability to provide enhanced, consistent wireless coverage to customers in indoor or outdoor spaces where geographical limitations - terrain, building construction, etc. - or crowd density might otherwise prevent an optimal wireless experience.
AT&T, Inc. to Begin Selling BlackBerry Passport, Classic

AT&T Inc. announced that the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic smart phones will be available online and in retail stores beginning Feb. 20. The BlackBerry Passport is available exclusively through AT&T in the United States. It has a 4.5-inch full HD square touch screen with touch-enabled QWERTY keyboard. The BlackBerry Classic harkens back to the days of old for BlackBerry with its iconic QWERTY keyboard.
AT&T Aims to Match Google Broadband in Kansas City

AT&T has announced a new Kansas City-area broadband service with speeds and pricing that aims to put it in competition with Google Fiber. The Kansas City Star reported that the fiber optic packages, called GigaPower, will be available to homes and businesses in downtown Kansas City and the Kansas suburbs of Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe and Overland Park.
