SK Telecom and Pixtree to Launch Real-Time HEVC Encoder

SK Telecom and Pixtree have jointly developed a real time HD hardware encoder, Business Korea reports. SK Telecom said the new encoder takes 0.5 seconds from input to output during a compression of a video. The encoder uses High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) technology to compress HD video of up to 15 Gbps into 25Mbps. The product also includes a 'multi-view function' which enables multiple broadcast channels to be seen on one screen without affecting image quality. SK Telecom and Pixtree will participate in the 2015 NAB Show in Las Vegas, starting 13 April to promote the HEVC Encoder worldwide.

SK Telecom Signs memorandums of understanding with Taiwan Mobile, Skytel and Nokia Networks

SK Telecom announced that it has signed memorandums of understanding (MOU) with a number of overseas companies aimed at expanding its presence in the global markets with extensive knowhow and experience in mobile network technologies. MOU were signed with three different companies: Taiwan Mobile, Skytel and Nokia Networks. Under the MOU with Taiwan Mobile, SK Telecom will share its know-how on better LTE network performance and customer experience management (CEM) aimed at enhancing Taiwan Mobile's network efficiency and competitiveness in mobile broadband service. The two companies will also work together to develop next-generation mobile network technologies and mobile solution business. Through SK Telecom's MOU with Mongolia's Skytel, SK Telecom will provide Skytel with consulting service in LTE network technologies and network-based solutions developed by SK Telecom to enable real-time management of customer experience. The SK Telecom MOU with Nokia Networks promises to expand their collaboration in exporting diverse network operational solutions. By joining hands with Nokia, SK Telecom aims to create new opportunities in the overseas markets by providing its network operational knowhow to Nokia's 600 plus customers spread across 150 nations.
