Teledyne LeCroy, Coherent Solutions Ltd, Oclaro, Inc., and Anritsu EMEA Ltd. announced they will be demonstrating the industry's first commercially available Research & Development platform for testing single-carrier coherent optical communication systems and components operating at 56GBaud and beyond at ECOC 2015 in Valencia, Spain in booth #548. This development platform is available now and features what is believed to be the high baud-rate single-channel optical communications test and measurement system achievable using commercial instrumentation. Research and development groups across the globe are striving to achieve higher and higher optical data transmission rates. High bandwidth signal generation and analysis tools are essential to development of the new technologies, components, and higher-order modulation formats being investigated to support the insatiable global demand for bandwidth. This demonstration is intended to showcase how high baud-rate optical signals can be reliably generated, optimized, and analyzed through the careful integration of equipment from the right suppliers. 56GBaud electrical signals are generated by Anritsu's MP1800 Signal Quality Analyzer used in combination with their MP1861A MUX. The 40GHz IQTransmitter from Coherent Solutions translates this into an emulated dual-polarization optical signal, enabled by the integration of Oclaro's 400G single carrier LiNbO3 modulator. The performance of the optical transmission system is then analyzed by the Teledyne LeCroy LabMaster 10-65Zi-A OMA system incorporating the new IQS70 70GHz Coherent Optical Receiver and OpticalLinQ software. Anritsu's MP1800A Signal Quality Analyzer is a Bit Error Rate Tester offering a comprehensive suite of testing capabilities to support complete Signal & Transmission Integrity Analysis. Anritsu MP1800A Signal Quality Analyzer's key features include superior signal waveform quality, extremely low intrinsic jitter and fast transition times, multichannel generation and analysis, integrated full Jitter Tolerance stress generation, 4Taps Pre-Emphasis, PAM4 and PAM8 Converters. Anritsu has also announced another evolution for this platform to cover signal generation, analysis and jitter tolerance testing up to 64.2Gbps, as a worldwide unique solution for R&D on signal transmission up to 1Tbps. The Oclaro 400G LiNbO3 external modulator is the industry's first device being sampled that has been explicitly designed to enable 400G and beyond speeds on a single wavelength or carrier. Teledyne LeCroy's Optical Modulation Analysis solution provides the industry's best performance by combining the high bandwidth with the most flexible analysis. The 70GHz bandwidth IQS70 Coherent Optical Receiver integrates seamlessly with the LabMaster 10Zi-A oscilloscope and OpticalLinQ software, delivering the most complete optical modulation analysis package.
Oclaro, Inc to Demonstrate Optical Innovations for Next Generation Data Center and Metro Network Upgrades At ECOC 2015

Oclaro, Inc. announced a powerful line up of 100G and 400G product demonstrations in its booth #536 at next week's ECOC 2015 Conference in Valencia, Spain. Oclaro's demonstrations showcase how its vertically integrated product lines deliver the higher speeds, lower power dissipation and smaller form factors that network and data center operators desire in order to provide more bandwidth without significantly expanding footprint, cost and power consumption. Highlighting its 100G client-side leadership, Oclaro will be showcasing a live interoperability demonstration between its LR4 and ER4-Lite line-up of CFP, CFP2 and CFP4 transceivers and its new 100G QSFP28 CWDM4/CLR4 transceiver based on Oclaro's directly modulated laser (DML) and electro-absorption modulated laser (EML) technology. Oclaro also will be showcasing several products from its vertically integrated DWDM product portfolio, including: New 400G lithium niobate modulator for next generation DWDM networks; Analog coherent CFP2-ACO for metro and data center interconnect applications at 100G and 200G; Micro-ITLA and dual micro-ITLA with grid-less wavelength tuning for coherent applications from 100G to 400G.

Oclaro, Inc. Samples 100G QSFP28 Client-Side Transceiver Compatible with Both CLR4 and CWDM4 Specifications

Oclaro, Inc. announced the sampling of a 100G QSFP28 client-side transceiver that meets both the CWDM4 MSA and CLR4 Alliance optical interface specifications, as well as the IEEE 802.3bm CAUI-4 electrical interface specification. Featuring a low power consumption of 3.5 Watts and high transmission performance quality through the use of Oclaro's internal uncooled 1310nm 28Gbps DML technology, the new QSFP28 client-side transceiver is ideally suited for 100G interconnections between data center switches in addition to interfaces in high-end routers and packet-optical transport systems. Data center architectures have evolved from shorter reach multi-mode fiber links to longer-reach single-mode fiber interconnections between switches typically running at 10G or 40G. Until recently, the only 100G standard specified by the IEEE for single-mode fiber links has been the 100GBASE-LR4 standard for 10km reach based on WDM wavelengths that require temperature stabilized lasers even though many links only need reaches up to 2km. To address these issues, the CWDM4 MSA developed a new interface standard based on CWDM wavelengths which removes the requirement for a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) and allows for a low-cost design at low power consumption. At the same time, a group of companies also formed a new CLR4 Alliance to generate an open, multi-vendor specification, and this group established and released a specification similar to the CWDM4 standard. Because this new standard did not require forward error correction (FEC), which can sometimes cause latency issues, it was much more desirable for applications such as high-performance computing, computer clustering and high-speed trading that cannot tolerate latency. Oclaro is a founding member of both the CWDM4 and CLR4 MSA, and, with its new 100G QSFP28 transceiver, Oclaro can now support both of these standards with a single design that offers low power consumption, low cost and high-quality transmission performance. Below are a few features of the Oclaro 100G QSFP28 transceiver: Includes Oclaro's proprietary uncooled 1310nm 28Gbps DML enabling both CWDM4 and CLR4 specifications for low power consumption without compromising transmission performance; Based on cost effective design leveraging Oclaro's manufacturing experience gained as a supplier of single-mode 100G client-side transceivers; and Can operate without Forward Error Correction protocol on host card to deliver lower end-to-end latency. The Oclaro 100G QSFP28 transceiver is sampling to customers. Production is expected to ramp gradually throughout 2016 with the introduction of 100G single-mode solutions inside data centers.
