Utah Scientific Chooses MACOM’s 12G-SDI Chipset for their New UHD Routing Platform

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. (MACOM) announced that Utah Scientific has chosen MACOM's M23554 Adaptive Equalizer, M23145 Reclocker and M23428 Cable Driver for the 12G-SDI interconnects of its UDS-4K Universal Distribution System. As broadcast video evolves to UHD, 12G-SDI enables 4k60p video using the lowest power and high density with the lowest cost. By collaborating with MACOM, UTAH Scientific can now offer customers the ability to switch and route ultra-high definition video with a single link connection rather than multiple 3G-SDI connections. MACOM's family of 12G-SDI products are currently shipping in volume. These MACOM products will be shown at NAB 2015 in booth N3115, April 13 - 16, 2015 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

MACOM Introduces 10Gbps Burst Mode Laser Driver with Integrated Limiting Amplifier and Clock and Data Recovery for Next Generation Passive Optical Network

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. announced the new M02180, a low power, highly integrated, programmable burst mode laser driver integrated with continuous mode limiting amplifier and Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) designed for PON ONU/ONT applications up to 12.5Gbps. The M02180 laser driver can be configured in three selectable modes of operation. It offers open loop operation with look-up tables, single closed loop control using monitor photodiode feedback or MACOMâ s proprietary dual closed loop operation for low cost BOSA-on-Board applications. The device features a limiting amplifier with 6mV input sensitivity and integrated CDR with reference free operation and can be bypassed to support non-standard data rates. The M02180 includes an internal state machine controller and non-volatile memory with digital diagnostics, performing all the functions necessary for standalone operation without an external microcontroller. The internal state machine provides customers with the ability to acquire and scale industry standard monitoring parameters in real time. The M02180 also boasts a high voltage DC-DC controller for avalanche photodiode biasing with a built-in temperature based look-up table stored in an EEPROM. MACOM’s M02180 provides customers with low power operation of less than 90 mA typical. The device also offers sleep modes, burst-off current reduction modes and optional 2.5 V power supply operation for further power reduction.
M/A-COM Introduces GaN Bias Controller and Sequence Module

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc. announced a GaN bias controller and sequencer for fixed and pulsed negative gate biasing. The MABC-001000-DP000L module provides proper gate voltage and pulsed drain voltage biasing for a device under test (DUT). The module also provides bias sequencing, ensuring that the pulsed drain voltage cannot be applied to a device under test unless the negative gate bias voltage is present. The Bias Controller module solution offers protection and dynamic control of all MACOM High-Power transistors including MACOM’s broad GaN portfolio. The solution consists of two functional elements arranged vertically on the customers’ board to conserve size, weight and cost. The first functional element referred to as Module 1 is patterned and populated directly onto the customer board. The second functional element, referred to as Module 2, uses the land pattern of Module 1 and interconnects vertically through Module 1. The primary function of Module 1 is drain switching, while the main function of Module 2 is to provide the customer with easy gate switching. The device is capable of robust GaN protection at any power up/power down sequence and has a target total switch transition time of = 500 ns. It features an open drain output current of = 200 mA for an external MOSFET switch drive, gate bias output current of = 50 mA for heavy RF compression, and an internal thermistor or external temperature sensor voltage for Gate Bias Sum. The recommended approach is to utilize both module functions. The overall MABC-001000-000DPM can be co-located in heavy EMI/RFI environments with little or no extra filtering. Additional features include optional remote temperature sensing and temperature, fast Gate Switching, Remote Gate Adjust, and Buffered Multi-Gate Bias. With 30dB typical EMI/RFI Rejection at all I/O ports, the MABC-001000-DP000L is RoHS compliant and 260° reflow compatible. The MABC-001000-DP000L module can also be installed onto an MABC-001000-PB1PPR evaluation board for evaluation, test, and characterization purposes.
