M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. Expands Portfolio with 2-Watt and 4-Watt Ka-Band Power Amplifiers

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. announced the MAAP-011246, a new 2-Watt power amplifier, and the MAAP-011139, a new 4-Watt power amplifier in a SMT package. These 4-stage, fully matched power amplifiers are ideally suited for Ka-Band SATCOM applications, and provide industry leading linearity for either final power amplification stages or driver stages in higher power applications. The MAAP-011246 operates from 27.5 to 31.5 GHz, providing customers with 23 dB of linear gain, 2 W saturated output power and 24% added efficiency. The device is offered in a 5x5 mm 32-lead QFN package and offers an IM3 level of -25 dBc at 27 dBm Pout/tone, making the power amplifier an ideal solution for high-performance commercial SATCOM uplink terminal applications. The MAAP-011139 is offered in a 5x5 mm 32-lead QFN package and operates from 28.5 to 31.0 GHz while providing 22 dB linear gain and 23% added efficiency. The device delivers 4 W saturated output power and greater than 27 dBm Pout/tone while maintaining IM3 levels of 30 dBc, which is twice the linear performance of competing alternatives.
M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. Announces MALD-37045 CDR+VCSEL Driver Interoperability with II-VI VCSELs

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. announced that their new MALD-37045, a four channel 25.78G/28.05G VCSEL driver featuring an integrated Clock Data Recovery (CDR) and an equalizer, has been proven as interoperable with II-VI Incorporated’s Vertical-Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs). Together with the MATA-37044, a companion transimpedance and Limiting amplifier with CDR, MACOM’s latest chipset solution has been implemented by customers in 100Gbps QSFP Modules and Active Optical Cables as a complete electronics solution with proven results. These devices consume ultra-low power, making them the ideal solution for small form-factor applications. The MALD-37045 and the MATA-37044 both feature CDR functionality for use as a complete transmit and receive solution for optical modules and on-board optical engines. The reference-free CDRs in the MALD-37045 and the MATA-37044 are programmable, retiming at 25.78 Gbps, 27.95 Gbps and 28.05 Gbps.These companion devices have their respective outputs and inputs spaced on 250 µm centers to maintain compatibility with standard optical interfaces, and each device can be individually controlled through the 2-wire serial interface. The MALD-37045 provides customers with programmable bias and modulation current, enabling interoperability with variety of VCSEL lasers, including II-VI’s lasers. The MATA-37044 includes a high-sensitivity TIA with selectable bandwidth to support interoperability with short wave and long wave photodetectors. The MALD-37045 and MATA-37044 are optimal one-stop solutions for optical modules, active optical cables and on board optical engines. They can be used in 100G Ethernet, EDR InfiniBand and 32G Fibre Channel applications, providing customers with a low power interoperable solution required by today’s small form-factor optical subassemblies.

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc. (MACOM) announced the completion of it divestiture of its Automotive business to Autoliv ASP Inc. for approximately USD 100 million in cash, plus the opportunity to receive up to an additional USD 30 million in cash based on the achievement of revenue-and customer order based earn-out targets through 2019. Also, in conjunction with closing of this divestiture, MACOM announced financial guidance for its fiscal fourth quarter ending 2 October 2015, excluding the Automotive business which is now classified as discontinued operations. According to MACOM, it now expects revenues to be in the range of USD 110 million to USD 114 million, or up by 1.0% to 4.5%, as compared with the third quarter 2015 without Automotive. Also, non-GAAP gross margin is expected to be between 56% and 59%, while non-GAAP diluted EPS is expected between USD 0.32 and USD 0.34 on an anticipated 55.5 million shares outstanding.
