Marks and Spencer Group plc announced that Laura Wade-Gery, Executive Director, Multi-Channel, will be on maternity leave from September 1, 2015. Until Laura's return to the business in early January 2016, Sacha Berendji, Director of Retail, and David Walmsley, Director of M&S.com, will report temporarily to Marc Bolland, Chief Executive Officer, while Helen Weir, Chief Finance Officer will be responsible for e-commerce distribution during this short period.

Marks & Spencer has sparked uproar in local communities by confirming it will close nine shops across the UK, putting hundreds of jobs at risk. The closures include stores in Birmingham, London and Wales and are a result of M&S attempting to modernise its store estate as shoppers switch their spending online. 430 workers would be affected, but that they would be offered jobs at nearby M&S stores. The closures are the latest in a collection announced by high-profile British retailers. M&S will close three traditional food and clothing shops, one Simply Food store, and five Outlet stores that sell end-of-season clothing. The Outlet stores are in Walsall, Aldershot, Pontypridd in Wales, Hounslow in west London, and Royal Quays in North Shields. The three full-line stores are in Stevenage, Wood Green in north London, and The Fort shopping park in Castle Bromwich near Birmingham, while the Simply Food shop is in Shirley, also near Birmingham.

Marks and Spencer Group plc announced that John Dixon, Executive Director, General Merchandise, has decided to leave the business to pursue career opportunities outside of the company. He will step down from the board with immediate effect and leave the company on a date to be agreed. In line with succession plans, Steve Rowe will take on responsibility for General Merchandise and Andy Adcock, currently Trading Director, Food, will step up to be Director of Food, reporting to Marc Bolland on an interim basis. Steve has been with M&S for over 26 years, starting his career in store management. He has significant experience having worked in many areas of M&S with roles in Food, Retail, General Merchandise and Ecommerce. In his current role as Executive Director, Food, Steve has been instrumental in ensuring that M&S has maintained its specialist positioning and continued to outperform in a challenging market.

Marks & Spencer Group plc approved final dividend of 11.6 pence per share for the year ended 28 March 2015. The final dividend will be paid on 10 July 2015 to all shareholders who are on the register of members on 29 May 2015.
