Alliant Energy Launches Innovative Solar Demonstration Project at Madison Office

Alliant Energy is breaking ground on the project this week and expects the first solar structure to be put in place next month. The company's offices at 4902 North Biltmore Lane on Madison's east side in the American Center business park will be the site for the renewable structures. The company has plans to install more than three dozen unique renewable energy features over the next few years as part of a solar lab on the grounds of its headquarters in Madison, Wis. The project will place the solar energy features in various locations, angles and elevations on the office property to see how solar can be optimized in the Midwest. The initial construction phase is expected to be completed by the end of December, with a second phase planned to break ground in the second half of 2016. The initial project investment is expected to be approximately $5 million.

Alliant Energy Corporation announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported operating revenues of $717.2 million against $750.3 million a year ago. Operating income was $109.0 million against $103.3 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $82.6 million against $77.8 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations, net of tax was $71.4 million against $64.6 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company common shareowners was $67.6 million or $0.61 per share against $61.8 million or $0.56 per share a year ago.

Patricia Kampling, Alliant Energy Corporation Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, announced the promotion of Robert Durian to Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller. Robert has been Controller and Chief Accounting Officer since 2011, with oversight of utility accounting, financial reporting and asset management. He has been with the company since 1992 and has held several leadership roles in the financial reporting area of the company, including Assistant Controller, Director – Financial Reporting, Manager – Financial Reporting and Manager – Internal Reporting.

On July 27, 2015, the Boards of Directors (the Boards") of Alliant Energy Corporation, Interstate Power and Light Company and Wisconsin Power and Light Company appointed Deborah B. Dunie and Thomas F. O'Toole as members of the Boards effective July 27, 2015. Ms. Dunie retired in 2014 from her position as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of CACI International Inc. She has served on the board of directors of Science Applications International Corporation since 2015. Mr. O'Toole has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer and President, MileagePlus of United Continental Holdings Inc. since 2015. Ms. Dunie will serve on the Compensation and Personnel Committee and the Safety, Environmental, Policy and Operations Committee of each Board. Mr. O'Toole will serve on the Audit Committee and the Safety, Environmental, Policy and Operations Committee of each Board. Both directors will receive compensation as non-employee directors in accordance with the company's non-employee director compensation practices. Ms. Dunie and Mr. O'Toole will each hold office until the company's 2016 annual meeting of shareowners, and are expected to be nominated for election as directors at that meeting to serve for three-year terms expiring at the company's 2019 annual meeting of shareowners.
Alliant Energy to Close Nelson Dewey Generating Station

Alliant Energy announced that Cassville's Nelson Dewey Generating Station, a coal-burning plant operated by the company, is slated to close December 31. The plant employs 54 full-time workers.
