Sky And Liberty Global Reportedy Eye Stake In Formula One; Others Also Line Up

Sky plc (LSE:SKY) and Liberty Global plc (NasdaqGS:LBTY.A) are considering submitting a £4.5 billion bid to acquire a controlling stake in Formula One Administration Limited from CVC Capital Partners Limited, the Sunday Times reported citing City sources. Sky and Liberty have held informal discussions with CVC, the report stated. CVC holds 35.5% in Formula One. It has been reported that RSE Ventures, Inc. and Qatar Sports Investments have also reportedly joined forces to acquire the stake. Lawrence Stroll is also known to be interested.

Liberty Global And Vodafone In Talks

Liberty Global plc (NasdaqGS:LBTY.A) and Vodafone Group Public Limited Company (LSE:VOD) are discussing a range of potential transactions, including an outright merger, amid consolidation in the telecommunications industry. Vodafone said it was considering an exchange of selected assets with Liberty Global. The talks are informal and at a very early stage, and an agreement may not be reached because of the complexity of the proposed transactions and regulatory concerns. Other options under discussion include a merger of the companies’ European businesses as well as a series of asset swaps, the people added. Representatives for Newbury, England-based Vodafone and London-based Liberty Global declined to comment, Bloomberg added. Vodafone said that it's talking to John Malone's Liberty Global Plc, but it's not talking merger.

Liberty Global plc announced that Betzalel Sergio Kenigsztein, currently Managing Director for Liberty's Central and Eastern European region, has been appointed to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Liberty Global's Latin American and Caribbean Operations, effective July 1, 2015. In this role, Betzalel will report directly to Liberty Global's Chief Executive Officer Mike Fries. In 2013, Betzalel was promoted to Managing Director for the CEE region, which encompasses over 8 million video, voice and broadband RGUs across five countries. Before his time at Liberty Global, he held a range of senior management positions in the Israeli cable industry.
