Barclays Provides Earnings Guidance for the Third Quarter of 2015

Barclays agreed to sell its wealth and investment management businesses in Portugal to Bankinter. The company expects the sale to reduce its risk-weighted assets by about £1.7 billion and trigger a post-tax loss of about £200 million, part of which will be booked in third quarter of 2015.
Barclays Case Dismisses in US

Major US stock exchanges and Barclays won the dismissal of US lawsuit in which pension funds and other investors accused them of rigging markets to benefit high-frequency traders. US district judge Jesse Furman said federal law affords exchanges "absolute immunity" from the plaintiffs' key claims, including over the creation of "complex order types" and proprietary data feeds that can benefit rapid traders, because they are self-regulatory organisations.
Barclays Bank Names Simon Croxford as General Counsel for Group Centre Legal Team

Barclays Bank has appointed Simon Croxford as general counsel for its Group Centre legal team, after the resignation of deputy group general counsel Michael Shaw in June. Croxford has held a series of senior roles at Barclays and its investment bank since joining the bank in 2005. Between 2012 and earlier this year he was general counsel for Asia-Pacific and for the investment bank's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) legal team. Croxford will retain his current responsibilities until his successor is appointed but will delegate certain tasks for the investment bank on an 'ad interim basis as appropriate'. In his new role Croxford will report to group general counsel Bob Hoyt and will support the bank's central management function. The general counsel's office, competition, financial crime and M&A legal teams and the employment incentives and pensions teams will all report to Croxford. Shaw announced his resignation in June after six years at the bank and will leave next month. He was originally thought to be leading the race to replace Mark Harding in the top legal job at Barclays but lost out to Hoyt.

Barclays Plc Appoints Tom Hoskin as Head for Media Relations

Barclays Plc has appointed Tesco group media relations director, Tom Hoskin as head for media relations. He will operate as MD for group media relations at the bank. Hoskin is to leave Tesco by the middle of October 2015.
