Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2015; Revises Earnings Guidance for the Full Year 2015

Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported sales of $62,638,000 against $60,728,000 a year ago. Operating income was $2,427,000 against $3,366,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $2,284,000 against $3,270,000 a year ago. Net income was $1,390,000 or $0.07 per basic and diluted share against $1,995,000 or $0.10 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net sales were $58,531,000 against $56,686,000 a year ago. The decrease in net income and EPS is a result of increased SG&A spend and higher cost of goods per barrel, offset slightly by increased shipments and higher net sales per barrel. Adjusted EBITDA was $5,267,000 against $5,803,000 a year ago. For the six months, the company reported sales of $107,257,000 against $107,745,000 a year ago. Net sales were $100,240,000 against $100,512,000 a year ago. Operating income was $636,000 against $3,144,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $378,000 against $2,941,000 a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $6,306,000 against $7,865,000 a year ago. For the year 2015, the company expects owned beer shipment growth between 1% and 3%. The adjusted anticipated beer shipment growth reflects greater-than-anticipated challenges to the Redhook brand family outside of its home market. Average price increase of 1% to 2%. Contract brewing revenue is expected to be flat compared to 2014, previously estimated to range from a decline of 10% to an increase of 10%. Gross margin rate of 30.5% to 31.5%, which is unchanged based on continued efforts to optimize brewing locations and improve capacity utilization as the company steer towards gross margin expansion target of 35% in 2017. Capital expenditures of approximately $16 million to $19 million, which were previously estimated at $17 million to $21 million. The decrease in projected capital expenditures is due to the timing of certain planned projects. The company continues to anticipate capital expenditures of approximately $17 million to $21 million in 2016. Capital expenditures will support the recently announced brewery expansion projects, as well as continued investments in quality, safety, sustainability, capacity and efficiency.
