Banco Popular Seeks To Sell Real Estate Assets In Spain

Banco Popular Espanol S.A. (CATS:POP) is planning to sell €451 million worth of Spanish property. The bank’s portfolio includes 1,753 homes in Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo and the Costa del Sol valued at $300 million , zoned land in 10 regions across Spain valued at €103.4 million and 13 hotels valued at €47.2 million, according to a document sent to investors by N+1 Group, an investment bank advising the seller. Banco Popular intends to sell the portfolio, known as “Project Elcano” in the first half and the sellers may provide financing to the potential buyer, according to the document. Representatives of Banco Popular, Spain’s sixth-largest bank, and N+1, declined to comment.

Banco Popular Espanol S.A. Reports Earnings Results for the First Quarter of 2015; Reaffirms Net Interest Income Guidance for the Year 2015

Banco Popular Espanol S.A. reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2015. For the quarter, net attributable profit was EUR 91 million, which is 6.1% higher than in the same quarter of the previous year, and which will continue to grow throughout the year. Net interest income grew 2.4% versus the same period of the previous year with EUR 562 million. Net operating income was EUR 506 million. With all of these lines, net profit is at EUR 91 million, which is 6.1% higher than in 2014. The company maintains the guidance for 2015 that the company gave at the beginning of the year. Net interest income guidance was EUR 2.3 billion to EUR 2.4 billion for the year.

Banco Popular Reportedly Seeks Acquisitions In US And Mexico

Banco Popular Espanol S.A. (CATS:POP) is seeking acquisitions in United States and Mexico, Spanish business newspaper Cinco Dias reported citing Angel Ron, President and Chairman of Banco Popular. Angel Ron also said that Banco Popular will make necessary investments in relation to the opportunities.
