Alaska Communications Increases Health Care Access in Prince William Sound, Lower Cook Inlet, and Resurrection Bay

More than 2,200 residents in the Chugach region will have increased access to quality health care due to Chugachmiut’s leadership and its new technology provider, Alaska Communications. Chugachmiut is a tribal consortium serving Native communities with health and social services, education and training in Prince William Sound, Lower Cook Inlet, and Resurrection Bay. Under the new three-year agreement, Alaska Communications will provide Chugachmiut’s clinics in Port Graham, Nanwalek, Seward, Chenega Bay and Tatitlek with Wide Area Network services and faster Internet. With faster, more reliable connectivity and Internet, Chugachmiut can improve access to health care by virtually connecting its clinics with its regional mid-level clinic in Seward and the Anchorage-based Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) in real time. Chugachmiut health care providers will also enjoy faster access to applications such as electronic health records and telemedicine technology.
Alaska Communications Systems Group Inc. Wins Contract to Provide WAN Services to State Employees

Alaska Communications Systems Group Inc. has received a five-year contract to provide wide area network, or WAN, services to employees in the state of Alaska. Under this agreement, Alaska Communications will provide secure and dedicated network connectivity between the State's core locations in Anchorage, Juneau and Fairbanks as well as high-speed, high-capacity Internet. The company demonstrated its work with clients such as the Anchorage School District, NANA, Princess Cruises, Old Harbor Native Corporation and the Municipality of Anchorage. Alaska Communications serves these and other clients with its certified Carrier Ethernet 2.0 network. State employees will benefit from their core transport provider by receiving a network sized to its needs. The new network will provide a high-capacity, secure, reliable and express backhaul and Internet access system needed to operate at peak performance.
