ALR Technologies Signs First Revenue-Generating Contract
Apr 20 15
ALR Technologies Inc. announced that Clay-Platte Family Medicine Clinic has signed a contract with ALRT to improve diabetes health outcomes using the Health-e-Connect remote chronic care management system. This is the first commercial deployment of the Health-e-Connect system and a significant expansion of ALRT's operations. Under the terms of the contract, Clay-Platte Family Medicine Clinic's nearly 3,400 diabetes patients will be eligible to be enrolled in the Health-e-Connect system and ALRT will be paid a per-patient-per-month fee. Health-e-Connect remotely monitors patient blood-glucose levels and alerts physicians when those levels are trending out of established protocols. In a clinical trial, Internet-based Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems were associated with a reduction in average A1c levels from 8.8% to 7.6% over a six-month period.
ALR Technologies Inc. Seeks FDA Approval for Insulin Dose Adjustment Feature for Better Diabetes Management
Feb 17 15
ALR Technologies Inc. announced the submission of a 510(k) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for an innovative new addition to the Health-e-Connect system that will help busy physicians avoid common insulin dosing errors and remotely manage large populations of patients with diabetes without sacrificing the quality of care. A first-in-class technology, the Insulin Dose Adjustment Consultation (IDAC) feature from ALRT uses an algorithm-- based on the guidelines of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) -- to advise doctors instantly on the proper dose of insulin for each patient. The algorithm takes into account the current insulin dosage, the patient's height and weight, and a review of blood glucose data from the patient's glucose meter to efficiently deliver accurate dosing recommendations. With FDA 510(k) clearance, IDAC will become an important addition to the Health-e-Connect remote diabetes care management system.
ALR Technologies Inc. Begins Enrolling Patients in Kansas City
Sep 9 14
ALR Technologies Inc. announced the first large-scale commercial deployment of Health-e-Connect. A team from ALRT and the Kansas City Metropolitan Physician Association (KCMPA) began enrolling patients with Type 2 diabetes and A1c levels above 8% in a trial of the Health-e-Connect system. The enrollment is an innovative diabetes management component of KCMPA's Quality Improvement Plan designed to achieve lower A1c scores for some of KCMPA's most challenging patients. The goal of the program is to demonstrate the ability of Health-e-Connect to improve treatment adherence and health outcomes for patients, and enable physicians to intensively manage large populations of diabetes patients remotely. Health-e-Connect could also become a revenue generator for KCMPA and ALRT if the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) adopts its proposed payment schedule for remote chronic care management. Under the proposed rule, physicians would be reimbursed by CMS for 20 minutes of remote chronic care management each month beginning January 1, 2015.
