Data in this table measures the domestic activities of nonfarm nonfinancial corporations excluding the financial transactions of foreign subsidiaries of U.S. companies. These private domestic corporations have over $3 trillion of credit market debt outstanding in the form of bonds, mortgages, commercial paper, and loans from bank and nonbank financial institutions. Data is obtained from the Statistics of Income Corporation Source Book, published by the Internal Revenue Service. Data is not seasonally adjusted and is currently updated.
