Rate Profile Information for LATREYY

Before Latvia became a member of EU, Latvian foreign trade data was compiled on the basis of the information taken from customs declarations and statistical surveys. Apart from the customs data, the foreign trade turnover was based on monthly statistical surveys on electricity and natural gas exports and imports as well as quarterly information on extraterritorial trade from fishing vessels. Temporary exports and imports, repair trade, leasing, goods for diplomatic corps and embassies, humanitarian aid were excluded from foreign trade data. After Latvia became a member of European Union, the system of collection of statistics on trade with the EU members has changed and it is based on Intrastat surveys. However the system of collection of statistics on trade with non-EU members remained the same. It is based on information from cargo declarations.
