The consumer price index measures prices of consumer goods and services at the retail level. Percentage changes in the CPI are considered to be Chile's benchmark rate of inflation. Base is 2009=100. Also included in this ticker series is the CPI minus fresh fruits and vegetables, and fuel. Year-on-year percentage changes (CNPISAYO) for 2010 are considered by INE to be for reference only. In Jan. 2010, the INE introduced a new national CPI, which covers urban areas in Chile's 15 main regions, the previous CPI covered only Santiago.
