Bloomberg Professional
Community Features
Bloomberg Community
Bloomberg Professional is more than information. It’s a community - a network of professionals and business leaders with a common interest in the world of finance. Bloomberg pioneered the use of private messaging systems, recognizing early on that maintaining open lines of communications is an important part of our service.
The means of communication between all these people is built right into the Bloomberg Professional® service. You can communicate with one or many users at once; participate in chats, and leverage the intelligence of your peers to find relevant news and data. Bloomberg also serves as a collaboration tool, allowing users to join public communities or create their own private communities of colleagues or clients.
We have two main mechanisms for communication with members of the Bloomberg community:
Bloomberg Message System
The Bloomberg Message system lets you communicate with other users on Bloomberg, as well as Internet addresses. Users are notified of incoming messages in real-time through a flashing indicator on their screen and can view whether users have read and replied to their messages in real-time.
Instant Bloomberg
With Instant Bloomberg you can communicate with one or many users at once, in real time.
You can create persistent chat rooms with a group of users. These chats remain open at all times, and users can easily view conversations they missed while not logged in. You can also drag and drop Bloomberg charts, monitors and news stories into chat rooms, send attachments, and even confirm FX trades.
In many financial markets, the Bloomberg communications system is the primary vehicle for sharing prices and trade information. Bloomberg's proprietary technology allows users to extract all of the pricing from their messages to feed analytics, spreadsheets and more.
It’s a great all-around communications hub that enhances the Bloomberg Professional experience by encouraging direct peer-to-peer connection and discussion.
Through the eyes of the Bloomberg community
Community features can help you in understanding what your peers are paying attention to, and why. You can see which news stories have been read or sent most frequently over a specified time period. By tracking what news is popular within the community of your peers you can easily find news you may have missed that is relevant to you. You can also use the intelligence of the community to determine which economic indicators are the most important in any given market, allowing you to make your alerts more relevant.
As the Bloomberg community continues to grow, it becomes a deeper, more meaningful resource for all its participants, and enhances the power and utility of the information we all share.
