Nancy Reagan’s CNN Debate Invite Leaves Out Gilmore

Former first lady Nancy Reagan invites 16 Republican presidential candidates to take part in Sept. 16 CNN/Reagan Library debate, with former Va. Gov. Jim Gilmore not making the cut, CNN reports, citing Reagan news release.

  • Candidates must have average of at least 1% of support in 3 recognized natl polls before Sept. 10 to be included in debate, as well as meeting other criteria: CNN
  • Event will be broken into two back-to-back debates with two groups of GOP contenders; CNN’s Jake Tapper will moderate both groups
  • NOTE: Gilmore may be invited later if he climbs in polls
  • NOTE: Debate to be held at Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Calif.
